Graduation Distinctions As an honors graduate, you will wear a medallion at commencement and receive recognition in thecommencement program and on your diploma.Your transcript also will indicate your academiccommitment and achievement with an honorsnotation. Your family and friends will be proud,and so will you.

Honors Gold Track• Complete 21 credit hours of honors courses, of

which three credit hours must be “KnowledgeThrough the Ages.” No more than six hours can be honors projects.

• Maintain a minimum 3.5 GPA.

• Earn at least a B in each honors class ornon-honors courses with an honorsproject.

• Earn at least 40 points on the HonorsPoint System by participating inhonors, cultural and scholarly leadershipactivities and community service.

Honors classes are interactive,thought-provoking and limited to15 students. They are taught bysome of Palm Beach State’s mostinnovative and distinguishedprofessors who encouragestudents to think outside of thebox. Honors classes are theperfect environment to expressyour creativity and reach yourhighest potential. You willexplore. You will dig deeper. You will be inspired.

Students benefit greatly from thefull learning experience thatcomes with taking honors classes.However, those who needflexibility in their class schedulesalso have the option to earnhonors credit in non-honorsclasses. With faculty permission,you can extend your learningthrough a research paper orproject beyond the courserequirements.

Priority RegistrationHonors students can register forclasses before open registrationbegins, giving them a better chanceto enroll in high-demand classes.

Stimulating Curriculum

Honors Silver Track• Complete 12 credit hours of honors work (any

combination of honors classes or honors projects).

• Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5.

• Earn at least a B in each honors class or non-honorscourse with an honors project.

• Earn at least 20 points on the Honors Point System.

Beyond the classroomYour honors experience stretches beyond the classroom. You will have numerous opportunities to connect with your peers for honors events andcommunity service projects. You will develop a bond and even lasting friend-ships with students who share your interests and passion for learning and excellence. Many of the honors studentsalso are members and leaders in studentclubs and organizations.

$4,000 per year for two years with renewability option• New high school graduate• Minimum unweighted high school GPA of 3.5• Minimum SAT score of 1170 or

ACT score of 24 or 3.5 GPA and college-readytest scores

• Commitment to Honors Gold Track

Awarded to the top four students who enter the Honors College in the fall of theacademic year

$500 stipend (fall and spring terms) • Completed at least two Honors College

courses and at least 12 credit hours• Currently enrolled in an honors course• Minimum 3.5 GPA in Palm Beach State

courses and pursuing the Honors Gold Track

$500 (fall and spring terms) • Minimum 3.5 grade point average• Either full-time or part-time student in

the Honors College• Successfully completed six credit hours

of honors classes and must have atleast five or more honors activity points

ScholarshipsPalm Beach State offersnumerous scholarships forstudents doing honors work.There are specific transferscholarships to Florida AtlanticUniversity for students whograduate from the Dr. Floyd F.Koch Honors College in theHonors Gold Track. Other stateuniversities also offer transferscholarships to high-achievingstudents.

BENEFITS

Research & TravelAs an honors student, you will have opportunities to do research and publish your work in the College’s onlinepeer-reviewed research journal,Sabiduría. You also can travel to state, regional and national honors conferences with your peers.
