Freshwater Report

December, 2011

Time to get that 2012 license. Lots of nice trout being caught at local lakes. I watched Ron Parker pull in the first (of many, I hope) Class II entry at Lake Wohlford. A nice 4 pound 14 ounce Rainbow. He caught it right where I told him to fish. I should have been fishing there my-self.

I’ve seen several club members out there on Thursday, which we picked as a good day to fish with club members. But come out any day.

UPCOMING TRIPSUPCOMING TRIPS 2012

Lake Cahuilla

January 22-27

We’ll kick off our camping again this year with our annual trip to the desert. It is over by Indio. Dave and Sandy Martinez will be Wagon Mas-ters. Any late attendees, contact them. You will need to make your own reservations. Contact Riverside County Parks either by phone (800) 234-7275 or internet. Better hurry to get a choice site.

Lake Morena

February 19-24

The lake of big fish and cheap boat rentals. Wagon Mistress will be CheryBrandstrom. Sign-ups can still be made at the January meeting. This is another time you will need to make your own reservation through San Diego County Parks (877) 565-3600 or internet. Be sure and ask about a senior discount.

I’m still looking for Wagon Masters for March and April campouts. Lakes Morena and Hemet are good possibilities, but if you have a spot you would like to set up a trip to, let me know. I need your help to get trips going.

Bob Taylor Vice President

Happy New Year!

Starting January 1st the Mexican Immigration has added a Visa fee to our local fishing. This should not affect the off shore fishing.

Before I go into detail it is most likely being re-fined so we can wait and see what happens. We are getting our schedule for trips and will have it ready for the February newsletter. There are some very nice trips planned so get your gear ready to go fishing.

I will keep you informed on closures and Visa fees.

The Costa Rica trip is almost full, 4 spots left. If you want to go let me know ASAP. This is a great opportunity to see one of the most beauti-ful and friendly places around and have a great time fishing, scuba or snorkeling, jungle explor-ing, shopping or just relaxing on the beach.

The annual Cabo dates are October 13-18 so mark your calendar. More info to come.

Gerry Graf will have some wonderful deals at our meeting so visit his table to freshen up on your tackle.
