Hello Friends of Poky!

My name is Fredrick Killian, I typically go by “PK” or Pastor K, a name given to me when I started my career in ministry being a prison and jail pastor. I am blessed and honored to be your new pastor here at Hope United Methodist Church. I am married to an amazing, wonderful Godly partner named Tanya and we have 5 amazing on fire for Jesus, children. Our son Michael is 23 and lives and missions in Tennessee, our future son-in law John is 21 and lives with our daughter Emma, 21, in Ames with our other daughter Taiylor who is 20. Our two youngest sons, Elijah, 19, and Gabriel, 18 will be moving with us to Pocahontas in June. I was born in Wyoming and lived there and spent summers in California giving me a great mixture of midwestern cowboy and a street cred surfing Cali kid .

I am currently finishing my Masters in Theology at St. Paul School of Theology in Kansas. I truly love to teach, preach and live out God’s Word. I’m also a big fan of John Wesley and his writings. I would say my ministry style is anti-religion and pro relationship and I love to meet people where they are at not where society thinks they need to be. I am a proprietor of God’s love for all and to hate the sin not the sinner.

I have many passions in my life. I thoroughly enjoy cooking with my wife, reading, sports, avid outdoorsman, camping, fishing, prepping, gun collecting, martial arts, grilling and smoking meats, and most definitely love a good day of wind therapy (riding motorcycles). However, my greatest passion is spending quality time with my family and sharing the word of God. We are a crazy, loud and a bit wild Irish family and you better believe the St Patrick’s Day is HUGE in our house.

I long for everyone to know how amazing and awesome our Triune God is and hope to help equip the church to shine brightly with this truth in our world.

May the Lord bless us on this new journey! GGYB (Gods Got Your Back) Gods love and grace to you all, PK

June reads for our little ones and youth from HUMC library

The Lord's Prayer by Richard Jesse Watson

“Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.” The Lord’s Prayer pulses with new life through the exquisite illustrations of award-winning artist Richard Jesse Watson, and simple, yet insightful commentary by bestselling au-thor Rick Warren. Watson’s use of vibrant color and detailed imagery beautifully captures the essence of Jesus’ words to his disciples, and Warren’s thoughtful words help make the King James Version of this prayer come alive for readers young and old.

Elsie Dinsmore: A Life of Faith (series) by Martha Finley This series is an adaptation of the best-selling 19th century Elsie Dinsmore novels written by Martha Finley. Besides updated, modern language, these editions have a stronger Christian message, added historical information, a family tree, and other new features designed to enhance the books. Set in the South in the mid-to-late 1800s, the books tell the story of the life and spiritual commitment of Elsie Dinsmore, a charming young heroine whose Christian faith and hope guide her as she grows from childhood to adulthood. We have the first four books in this popular fiction series for girls: Elsie's Endless Wait (Book 1), Elsie's Impossible Choice (Book 2), Elsie's New Life (Book 3), Elsie's Stolen Heart (Book 4).

These books - along with featured books from the past year - will be available for checkout at the Book Nook in the Fellowship Hall during June. And don’t forget to browse the rest of our titles in the Library, located on the lower level in the room off the chapel!

• boxed mac and cheese • canned soup

• cake mixes • canned frosting
