April 11: Stories at the Marsh: Earth Day 10-11am. Come celebrate Earth Day through stories, activities and a craft. Ages 1-6.April 13: Volunteer Work Day & Opening Day 9am-4pm. Lend a hand anytime as we work to open for the season. April 26-29: Old Marsh Road Open for Earth Day Weekend Hike or bicycle Old Marsh Road and enjoy wildlife observation and photography. April 27: Earth Day Celebration 10am-3pm. Nature crafts, water bug scooping, animal tracks and pelts, hike and explore the Sense of Wonder Trail/Nature Play Area.April 27: Live Critters with Dave Stokes! 11am-12pm and 1-2pm. Get hands on with live frogs, turtles and more. April 28: Earth Day Celebration 9am-5pm. Plant milkweed, make a seed bomb, recycled craft, and hike. 11am: Creepy, Crawly & Cool Reptile program 1pm: Wild Birds of Prey program. $May 2: Membership Meeting & Volunteer Recognition 11am nature program. Please RSVP for 12pm lunch.May 4: Rooted at Horicon Marsh: DIY Pollinator Planters 9-11am. Pre-registration required. Learn about nature’s amazing owls and see LIVE birds. $May 13: Meet the Marsh Haven Martins10-11am. Get a close up look at the Marsh Haven Nature Center purple martin colony.
May 13: Bird Walk in Waupun 7:30-9:30am. Waupun’s Rock River Boardwalk may reward you with the sighting of thrushes, thrashers, woodpeckers, and a variety of warblers.May 16: Stories at the Marsh: I’m a Seed10-11am. Learn how a seed grows through stories and activities. Make & take seed bomb. Ages 1-6.May 18: Wildflowers for Wildlife: Native Plant Sale 9am-1pm. This year at Horicon National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center (Cty Rd Z)! Sponsored by Friends of Horicon NWR, Friends of Horicon Marsh Education Center and Taylor Creek Nurseries.June, July, August: Old Marsh Road Open for Public Access Hike or bicycle Old Marsh Road and enjoy wildlife observation and photography seven days per week. June 1-2: Art All Around Weekend Photography workshop on Saturday, Wild Birds of Prey program on Sunday. Crafts for the kids all weekend. $June 6: Stories at the Marsh: Walking Sticks 10-11am. Come learn about this fascinating insect and take a walk to try and find them. Ages 1-6.June 7: Voyageur Canoe Birding 3:30-6pm. Join us in Voyageur Canoes for an afternoon of birding along the east branch of the Rock River. Pre-registration required at www.horiconmarsh.org.June 8-9: Scouting Weekend All Scouts in uniform receive free admission to Marsh Haven.June 12: Geocaching 101 6:30-8pm. Find your adventure while exploring the world’s largest treasure hunt! All ages & experiences.June 13: Free Community Connection 6-7pm. This easy hike will include frequent stops to monitor the 40+ nest boxes at Marsh Haven.June 13: Archery 10-11:30am. Opportunity to use NASP equipment for target archery. Ages 5+.June 15: Critter Care Camp 10am-3pm. Youth ages 11-14 will get hands-on experience learning about and working with the animal ambassadors at Marsh Haven. Registration required. $June 16: BIRDcamp 10am-3pm. Youth ages 6-10 are invited to join us for this unique environmental, bird-themed day camp and learn more about our feathered friends. Registration required. $June 17: Rooted at Horicon Marsh: Let’s Jam 5:30-8:30pm. Pre-registration required. See www.horiconmarsh.org for details.June 18: Back to Basics: Aquatic Adventures 10-11:30am. Grab your boots or go barefoot! We’ll get wet and discover what life looks like beneath the water! Bring extra dry clothes. Ages 7-11.June 20: Stories at the Marsh: Gaggle of Geese 10-11am. Learn about animals in groups through stories and a craft. Ages 1-6.
June 22: Horicon Marsh Paddle 7:30am-1pm. Canoe or kayak the Horicon Marsh Wildlife Area. Talk with interpreters stationed throughout the marsh! More details at www.horiconmarsh.org. June 25: Little Otters: Wonderful Water 10-11:30am. Prepare to get wet! We’ll explore fingers-first what floats above and moves beneath the surface of the marsh. Ages 4-7.June 27: Marsh After Dark 8:30-9:30pm. Join a naturalist on this night hike to discover wildlife after-hours. Pre-registration required at www.horiconmarsh.org. All ages; limit 50.July 9: Back to Basics: Ultimate Camouflage 10-11:30am. How do animals stay hidden? Play hide and seek; wear your camouflage! Ages 7-11.July 11: Stories at the Marsh: Dragonflies 10-11am. Let’s find out more about the dragonflies through stories, activities, and a walk. Ages 1-6.July 12: Horicon Marsh Sunset Paddle 6:30-8:30pm. Enjoy the night sounds and colorful sunset on the marsh. Pre-registration and fee required at www.horiconmarsh.org. Limit 20.July 13: BIRDcamp 10am-3pm. Youth ages 6-10 are invited to join us for this unique environmental, bird-themed day camp and learn more about our feathered friends. Registration required. $July 14: Critter Care Camp 10am-3pm. Youth ages 11-14 will get hands-on experience learning about and working with the animal ambassadors at Marsh Haven. Registration required. $July 16: Little Otters: Nature Treasures 10-11:30am. Join us for an all-natural scavenger hunt! Ages 4-7.July 16: Rooted at Horicon Marsh: Wild Dehydrating 6-8pm. Ages 7-11.July 23: Summer Prairie Nature Journaling 6-8pm. This hands-on program will help you get started on your journaling adventure. Pre-registration required. $July 25: Stories at the Marsh: Woolly Mammoths 10-11am. Come learn about the king of the ice through stories and activities. Ages 1-6.July 25: Marsh After Dark 8:30-9:30pm. Join a naturalist on this night hike to discover wildlife after-hours. All ages; limit 50. Required pre-registration at www.horiconmarsh.org. July 26: Sunset Voyageur Canoe Paddle 6:30-8:30pm. Enjoy the night sounds of the marsh in a voyageur canoe! Pre-registration and fee required at www.horiconmarsh.org. Limit 14.

Drop in anytime for this free open-house.August 6: Back to Basics: Shelter Building 10-11:30am. Wildlife are some of the best architects. See how they build their shelters and then build your own! Ages 7-11.August 8: Stories at the Marsh: Ladybugs 10-11am. Experience a day in the life of one of these little red bugs through stories, activities and a craft. Ages 1-6.August 13: Little Otters: Seed Detectives 10-11:30am. Plants are all around, but how do they get there? Discover how seeds spread through exploration and games! Ages 4-7.August 15: Archery 10-11:30am. Opportunity to use NASP equipment for target archery. Please arrive on time for safety instructions. Ages 5+.August 20: Butterflies and Dragonflies 10-11:30am. Did you know there are over 3,000 species of dragonflies worldwide? Take a walk and see how many species of dragonflies and butterflies you can spot. Best for people of all ages.August 21: Rooted at Horicon Marsh: Worm Your Way into Composting 6-7:30pm. Pre-registration required. See www.horiconmarsh.org for details.August 22: Stories at the Marsh: Monarch Butterfly 10-11am. What is orange and white and black all over? Come to find out! Ages 1-6.August 22: Marsh After Dark 8-9pm. Join a naturalist on this night hike to discover wildlife after-hours. All ages; limit 50. Required pre-registration at www.horiconmarsh.org.August 23: Guided Horicon Marsh State Wildlife Area Paddle 8am-12pm. Guided paddle of HMSWA. Pre-registration & fee required. Register at www.horiconmarsh.org. Limit 15.August 27: Evening Prairie Hike 6-7pm. Guided hike through Marsh Haven’s prairie. August 29: Monarch Tagging 10am-12pm. Presentation and then go outside to catch monarchs and watch as DNR staff tag these magnificent migrants.August 29: Evening Prairie Hike 6-7pm. Guided hike through Marsh Haven’s prairie.September 13: Guided Horicon Marsh State Wildlife Area Paddle 8am-12pm. Guided paddle of HMSWA. Pre-registration & fee required.
