recyclable items, egg cartons, cardboard boxes & plastic containers. Send these items to Miss Laird’s classroom (1 Red). Thank you for your help! Lisa Fowler. PSSA AFL - “Such is life!” ‘You win some, you lose some!” “It’s

character building!” “You’ve got to lose one to win one!”. Take your choice from the quotes above. Junior 1’s were beaten by a better team on the day but fought back valiantly late in the

game to go down narrowly to a strong Wahroonga team. Congratulations to come so far, you should all be extremely proud of your incredible effort. To all players, Junior and Senior, thank you for your spirit and I hope everyone will return next year to play AFL. Thanks also to the parents who gave their time to cheer on the teams. Your children won’t forget you supporting them. Finally, thanks to Danny Strange for being an awesome coach and motivator to the players. Thank you, Peter Hughes. PSSA MILO CRICKET GALA DAY - 67 Hornsby North students competed in the annual Milo Cricket Gala Day at Rofe Park last Thursday. Our Junior girls’ and Junior boys’ A teams each won all four of their matches, to finish 1st in their competitions. Our Junior boys’ B team also had a terrific day, losing their first match by just 3 runs but winning their last 3 matches convincingly. The Senior boys’ A team won their first 3 matches by huge margins to end up in the Final. We played very well in the Final but ended up losing a close match by 14 runs. The Senior boys’ B team started the day with 2 handsome victories but lost their third match by just 1 run, which saw them finish in the 3rd place play-off match. This was a very tight encounter, which unluckily ended in another 1 run defeat. Our Senior girls’ A team began the day with a narrow loss but then won their last 2 matches to make it into the Final. The Final was a tense battle between 2 strong teams, but the Hornsby North girls came away with a 7 run victory! The team will now compete in the Area Final on Tuesday, 23 October. Congratulations girls! Congratulations also to all of our players for your excellent skills and behaviour, and for playing the game in a competitive, sporting manner. Well done also to Jayden H. for winning the Junior Boys’ High Catch Competition. Michael Howard. PSSA CRICKET - The PSSA Cricket competition resumes in just over 2 weeks and training starts up again this Tuesday, 4 September, from 3:15-4:00pm at the crickets nets. Training will not be held in wet weather – updates will be given through the Skoolbag app. Please return permission forms to Mr Howard this week. Thank you, Michael Howard. PSSA BOYS’ FOOTBALL - Last Friday, the HNPS Senior Boys’ Football team made a 5th Finals appearance in 8 years of Zone Competition, against a very good Berowra team! Unfortunately, it was not to be our day, suffering a very disappointing 6-0 loss. The boys couldn’t find a way to dominate possession, get a shot on

goal or display the consistency on the park that they have shown all season. Despite the disappointment of Friday, the boys have shown amazing character, attitude and application in 2018! I am so proud of them and look forward to commencing the 2019 Football Program next week. I would like to thank all of our wonderful parents for their support of the boys and the football program this year. Without this amazing support, our PSSA programs wouldn’t be possible. Chad Lawrence, Sport Coordinator. PSSA GIRLS’ FOOTBALL - After a cloudy start to the day, the sun shone over Montview Oval for the PSSA Girls Football Final in a local derby against Hornsby Heights. The girls have had a fantastic season this year and have only lost 1 game and were well deserving of their place in the Grand Final. After a hair raising spectacle, leaving the coach with grey hairs and feeling 10 years older, the girls finished the game 0-0, and have been named Joint Champions. Our Player’s Player this week made a spectacular save that kept us in the game and then went on to attack and put tremendous pressure on the opposition, well done Nicola. Also, well done to Hannah, Captain of the team, for leading the girls to this historic win. Dylan Seifert.
