The Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act (1979) [POCTA]. Please refer to the full legislation:

Emergency Diseases: In the event of an emergency/notifiable disease the Camden Show Society will refer to a veterinarian. The Camden Show Society will work under advice given by the district veterinarian. Exhibitors will need to abide by the NSW Animal Diseases and Animal Pests (Emergency Outbreaks) Act 1991 No 73: www.legislation.nsw.gov.au/viewtop/inforce/act+73+1991+FIRST+0+NRodeo Events: The Camden Show Society operates within guidelines set by the NSW DPI - The NSW code of practice for the welfare of animals used in rodeo events: www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/agriculture/livestock/animal-welfare/codes/rodeo-codePerforming Animals: The Camden Show Society operates within guidelines set by the NSW DPI - The NSW Code of Practice for the Welfare of Animals in Films and Theatrical Performances: www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/agriculture/livestock/animal-welfare/codes/film-theatre/codeCompliance: Exhibitors and patrons are advised to report acts of cruelty or suspected disease to a Camden Show Society committee member or one of the on ground veterinarians. Misconduct of the animal welfare guidelines will result in reporting to the Camden Show Society, a veterinarian and relevant authorities. Loss By Disease: The signing of the Certificate of Entry of any animal will be taken as a guarantee that the animal specified is free from all disease as far as it is known to the owner. In case of infectious disease being spread through or by any Exhibit, the Exhibitor shall be held responsible.Mistreatment Of Animals: The Committee will take the necessary actions in relation to the mistreatment of animalsHendra Virus: Due to the serious nature of the Hendra Virus, the Camden Show Society and the RAS recommends that all horses be vaccinated against the disease. Conduct: The Camden Show horse events are staffed entirely by Volunteers without whom it would not be possible to hold the Show so it is important that they are treated with the respect they deserve. Accordingly the Camden Show Committee would like to advise competitors and their supporters of the following: rudeness and improper behaviour by competitors or their representatives will not be tolerated. Camden Show Volunteers, Stewards and Ticket Box staff have the right to refuse service to any competitor who is rude or abusive. This includes the right to refuse to issue insurance waivers and wristbands and entry tickets. Competitors who have been refused either wristbands or entry tickets are ineligible to compete at the Camden Show on either Friday or Saturday. Competitors or their supporters who behave in a rude or offensive manner while in the Show arenas will be asked to leave the arena and may be subject to further disciplinary action according to the Camden Show Society’s Horse Committee Rules and Regulations.Event Tickets: On payment of entry fees, event tickets can be purchased at the Horse Entry Booth. One ticket is required for each individual event. Event tickets will be collected by the ring Stewards for each event in the ring. Only competitors with event tickets will be eligible to compete in any event.Participants Indeminity and Waiver: All competitors/guardians/handlers and any persons entering the Main Arena or the Bicentennial Equestrian Park competition arena must sign an Indemnity and Waiver issued by the Agricultural Societies Council of New South Wales for each day of the Show. This form will be available prior to the Show at www.camdenshow.com and on the day at the Horse Section ticket booth and must be filled in prior to purchase of event tickets. Upon returning a signed Indemnity and Waiver a wrist band will be issued. This wrist band must be securely worn when entering the ring as proof of compliance with the conditions described in the Indemnity and Waiver. No person shall enter the Bicentennial Equestrian Park competition arena or the Camden Show Main Arena without a wrist band on Friday or Saturday. Any person entering these areas without a wristband will be asked to leave the arena immediately. If they are currently in control of a horse they will be asked to remove the horse from the arena. Horses must not be tied to the arena fences. All handlers must be on the same side of the fence as the horse. If the handler is not in possession of a wristband the horse and handler will be escorted from the arena by a Steward.Marshalling: Competitors for all events are to assemble in the designated marshalling yards and are only permitted to enter the ring once their event/class is called. When judging is completed competitors MUST leave the ring in an orderly manner. Please be advised that no events/classes will be held in order to allow competitors to complete an event in another ring. It is the responsibility of all competitors to read the schedule and understand the timing and location of their events/classes, and to make themselves aware of the progress of each ring, in order for them to be prepared for their event when it is called.Health/Fitness of Horses: The Camden Show Society Inc. and our Honorary Veterinarian, reserves the right to inspect all horses upon entering the Show on arrival or whilst on the grounds. All horses deemed unfit by the Ring Master or the Honorary Veterinarian for competition will be withdrawn from the event. The Camden Show Society Inc. reserves the right to refuse entry and/or remove from the ring any horse that is diseased/injured/lame/unfit or distressed. Animals demonstrating clinical signs of contagious disease, overt lameness or in a compromised state will be excluded from the Show.Horse - Welfare: (a) The welfare of Horse Exhibits at the Camden Show is of major importance to the Camden Show Society Inc. (CSS) and will be a prime consideration in all circumstances. Accordingly, in order to ensure the welfare of Exhibits whilst at the Camden Show, the CSS reserves the right in its absolute discretion to take such action as the Honorary Veterinary Surgeon (University Of Sydney Vet Centre) may advise in relation to any horse Exhibit including without limitation:i) removal of the Exhibit from the Showgrounds, or to another location within the grounds, for quarantine and/or veterinary attention; ii) administration of any drug or form of treatment (including surgical treatment);iii) as a last resort in a worst case scenario in the opinion of the Honorary Veterinarian to humanely euthanize the Exhibit,iv) or to require the Exhibitor of the Exhibit to do so.(b) The Exhibitor of an Exhibit referred to in paragraph (a) of this Regulation indemnifies the CSS in respect of all costs incurred by the CSS in connection with any action taken pursuant to paragraph (a).

Cruelty To Horses: (a) No Exhibitor shall engage or be knowingly involved in cruelty to a horse. The CSS shall be the sole Judge of what constitutes cruelty, but it may include:i) to whip or beat a horse excessively,ii) to subject a horse to any kind of electric shock,iii) to use spurs, or to jab the horse in the mouth with the bit, excessively or persistently,iv) to remount, or attempt to remount, an exhausted, lame or injured horse,v) to rap a horse,vi) to hypersensitise any part of a horse,vii) to leave a horse without adequate food, drink or exercise,viii) excessive exercise,ix) tongues may not be tied in any manner.(b) Any case of cruelty must be reported immediately to the Chairman of the Horse Committee, accompanied by documentary evidence in support. Reports more than 7 days after the occurrence will not be considered.Drugs/Prohibited Substances: All horses must perform at the time of competition, without the aid of any drug/s or prohibited substance/s that affect the conduct, performance, or appearance of the horse. The Camden Show Society Inc. reserves the right to test and inspect any horse for drugs or prohibitive substances. Horses may be selected at random or specifically tested if they Exhibit symptoms associated with drugs or prohibited substances. Defiance/breach of this rule or use of a banned substance will result in the horse/competitor being excluded from the Show and notification of breach will be forwarded to the relevant Breed Society and the Agricultural Societies Council of NSW/Royal Agricultural Society of NSW. Please refer to the ASC webpage for further details www.agshowsnsw.org.auHonorary Veterinarian: The Honorary Veterinarian will be available on the grounds for emergency and first aid care to livestock which may become injured or suffer illness at the Show while competing, however please note that they reserve the right to charge for veterinary services. Approaching Judges: No Exhibitor or associate will initiate conversation with a Judge on judging day, before, during or after judging except through the Ringmaster or Chief Steward.Prohibited Relationship: No competitor will present for judging before a Judge with whom he/she has a family relationship, has or has recently had a personal relationship or has had horse related business dealings during the past twelve months.Coaching: Any person detected coaching a competitor while that competitor is being judged may be removed from the Showground.Helmets All riders must wear an Australian Standard Approved Helmet while riding at the Show whether competing or otherwise, unless specifically competing in an event in which the accepted dress code requires otherwise. Riders are to understand that their EFA or UPWBDA Ltd Members Insurance may be rendered void in the event of an accident/injury, wherever it may occur, if found to have not been using an approved helmet. Helmets marked as follows are approved for use: AS/NZS 3838:1998 (Australian and New Zealand Standard), EN 1384 (Current European Standard) and ASTN F1163 (Current US Standard). Subject to accepted Dress code potential competitors will NOT be allowed to ride if not wearing an approved helmet. Helmets over 5 years old CANNOT be worn. NO HELMET, NO RIDE. – Camden Show Society reserves the right to check helmets at any time.Heeled Boots: must be worn in all riding events.Footware: All competitors must wear appropriate footwear when leading or riding a horse. When riding, the footwear must enable removal of the foot from the stirrup.Attire: All competitors must adhere to the dress code required to each individual event/class. Dress code requirements will be enforced and must comply with the Show Horse Council of Australasia Inc. Competition Rules August 2015 Edition. These rules are available on www.showhorsecouncilaust.com.au. It is the responsibility of the competitor to read and abide by the dress requirements stated in this document. The Camden Show Society Inc. reserves the right to preclude any competitor not suitably attired.Beginner: A Competitor who is not confident enough to compete as a novice competitor. Beginners may be led at the discretion of the Judge. If a Judge decides that a novice Competitor is not competent to compete in novice classes the competitor may be asked to compete in a beginner class if a suitable class exists and has not been completed at that time.Novice: A competitor who has NOT won an individual first prize in a solo event at an Agricultural Show.Intermediate: A competitor who has NOT won an individual first, second or third prize in an event at a Royal Show. 43.

Championships: Only winners of classes are eligible to compete for championships.Supreme: Only winners of Champion sashes are eligible to compete for Supreme Championships.Consolation: Only open to entries that have not individually won a first, second or third prize in this year’s Camden Show.Stallions: Colts and stallions must be shown in suitable headgear as governed by their respective breed societies. No person under 17 years of age (proof of age may be requested) is permitted to show a colt or stallion in any led/ridden or harness class. Stallions and Colts shall only compete in classes where specifically permitted. Hunters/Hacks: Ponies or Horses must nominate in either Show Hunter Classes or Hack Classes. Ponies or Horses are not eligible to compete in both classes.Breed Classes: Horses in breed classes must be registered with their respective Breed Society. Therefore unregistered horses are not eligible for competition in these events. Copies of current registration must be available for presentation if requested by the Steward/Ring Master. All breed classes will be run according to the rules and regulations of their Society.District Events: Only Horses & Rider Combinations who commonly reside in the Municipalities of Camden, Campbelltown and the Shire of Wollondilly are eligible to compete in District Events.Measuring: It is the responsibility of the Competitor to ensure their horse is entered in their correct height class. If there is a dispute in a height class, Stewards may request a measuring check through the Ring Master. Horses will be measured on protest being lodged unless they are in possession of a current measuring card issued by the EFA or Hack Council.Horse Stalls: Applications for stalls and camping space shall be forwarded in writing to the Secretary’s Office no later than 14 days prior to the Show together with $25.00 per stall. Any person occupying a stall without official permission shall be prohibited from competing in any event in the Show. Electric fences are not permitted.Temporary Yards: Yards erected overnight by Exhibitors in parking areas must be dismantled by 7:00am each day. Electric fences are not permitted.Fireworks & Night Show: Please note that there will be a fireworks display on Saturday night. Exhibitors with horses that may be distressed by these activities should remove their Exhibits prior to the night Show. The Camden Show Society Inc. accepts NO responsibility for any injury, death, loss to any person (competitor or spectator), livestock or property that may occur during the course of this event.Grand Parade: The Grand Parade will be held on Saturday at approx. 4:00 pm. All ribbon winners are obliged to enter the parade as a condition of entry to the Show. Failure to take part may result in loss of Prize Money and placing. Amateur Rider: Must never have received any form of payment for training or riding another horse or pony. To be eligible rider must own their Exhibit. Leaving The Ring: If a led horse should drag or escape its handler or a ridden or driven horse take control of or unseat its rider and/or leave the ring, it is usually disqualified from the class. Protests: Any Exhibitor who desires to enter a protest against any decision on the part of the Judge, or any decision or act or omission on the part of the Society, shall lodge a protest in writing within 60 minutes on the day upon which such decision, act or omission occurred. The protest shall set out in detail the circumstances relied upon by such Exhibitor, shall be given to or left at the Secretary’s Office accompanied by a fee of $50.00, which shall be forfeited to the Society should the protest be deemed frivolous. Protests may be made by the owner, Exhibitor or their agent. All protests will be heard by the Protests committee & their decision is final & binding.Judging: The committee reserves the right to substitute a Judge when it is deemed necessary. If a Judge shall consider that any Exhibit does not possess sufficient merit to deserve a prize, no Prize shall be awarded. The Judge in consultation with the Ring Master may at their discretion alter or vary the program as deemed necessary.Judges Decision Is Final: The Committee of the Camden Show Society wishes to thank all those who support the Camden Show in any way - we ask that you support those who donate prizes or trophies to make this day a success.IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE EXHIBITOR TO BE AWARE OF

GENERAL CONDITIONSNeither the Organiser or the owners of property accept any liability for any accident, damage or illness of horses, owners, riders, ground spectators or any person or property whatsoever.

• Liability Release Waiver must be signed by each competitor and anyone entering the ring. A wrist band must also be worn. Waivers and wristbands available at site office NEAR HORSE PARKING.

• ALL RIDERS MUST be members of Equestrian Australia (EA).• All horses must be EA registered to compete in Official events.• EA Grading cards must be available for inspection at time of entry and be endorsed

by Judge to collect Prize Money in Official Classes (1.10m and higher).• The Organisers reserve the right at their absolute discretion to alter or amend any

conditions, regulations, or any aspect of this event as they see fit. • The Committee reserves the right to cancel this event if circumstances change.

Entry fees will be refunded.• PROTESTS: Only the owner or the rider of the horse taking part in the competition

is entitled to lodge an objection. Objection must be made in writing to the Secretary, accompanied by a deposit of $50.00 not later than half an hour after the incident that gave rise to the objection. The decision of the Protest Committee will be final and the fee of $50 forfeited if appeal is not upheld.

• Riders shall be correctly attired at all times. Optional Dress Code is only at the discretion of the organising committee.

2. Points will be verified with the respective Shows.3. Winners will be notified by phone.4. All performances must be signed by either the Chief Horse Steward or the Show

Jumping Judge on the day.5. Points are awarded in all Show Jumping Classes conducted by participating Shows

except for juniors and novelty events.6. Horses are eligible for points from one class only each day.7. Only horses registered with Equestrian Australia are eligible to compete.8. Horses that are upgraded during the competition retain the points awarded.9. Any disputes concerning the competition must be submitted in writing to the Group
