spain is all about hospitality and we openly welcome millions of people from all over the world each

year to enjoy our special way of life. the country has been a full member of the european union since 1986,

hosted the 1992 olympics in barcelona and the world expo in seville (1992) and zaragoza (2008). with a

population of 45 million people and a closely knit family-oriented society, spain is a very safe country in

which to visit and live. spanning its borders you can discover breathtaking beaches, vast plains, natural

forests, deserts, and majestic mountain ranges (spain is the second most mountainous country next to

switzerland). culturally, spain is renown for its amazing gastronomical diversity, wine producing

regions, and open air festivals, not to mention, it is home to some of the most visited historical

monuments in the world.

andaLusia

Les Roches marbella is located in the southern region of andalusia. comprised

of 8 provinces and a total of 8.4 million inhabitants, andalusia is one of

spain's most important tourist destinations and a cultural melting

pot that has been coveted by cultures dating back to prehistoric

times. today, andalusia is a modern region with a well-

developed infrastructure. while moving forward with the

times, the region is also careful to conserve its roots

by maintaining its important cultural heritage and

monuments, together with its spectacular

biodiversity.

the kitchen - wheRe You wiLL LeaRn moRe than how to cook

You may not be planning a career as a chef, but working in a kitchen will teach you how to handle hot and

stressful situations as you gain knowledge about all the operational processes of a food and beverage

establishment. You will work closely with our chefs to prepare meals each day and, in doing so, gain a practical

understanding of how a professional kitchen works – ours are equipped exactly as you will find them in top

hotels and restaurants. we will drop you straight in at the deep end, and after one week’s training you will

be preparing, cooking and serving over 1,200 meals a day. important skills such as behavior, presentation,

efficiency and teamwork will be learned in this hands-on part of your education. You will also work in the

stewarding department, as you understand the importance of back of house operations to help the whole

operation to run smoothly. You will understand the principle of ‘learning by doing’ as you attend theory classes

about the origins of ingredients and plate presentation, and then put into practice in the kitchen what you have

just learned. You will have the support of 7 professional chefs teaching and supervising you, but you will do all

the work – which is assessed by your professor afterwards. this is experiential learning at its best and will give

you leadership skills and confidence.

the seRvice - LeaRn to stand in someone eLse’s shoes

it is important to understand every job in hospitality before you can learn how to manage a team. You

will work in all of our restaurants on campus – from formal dining to fast food, giving you a variety of

experiences. mixology and wine classes will teach you about the principles of bar and beverage, and you

will have the opportunity to mix up cocktails in the demo bar. You may find it challenging at first, but

faculty members and fellow students will support you. You will soon gain confidence and learn the style

that will make you a polished manager in a 5-star establishment.

the Rooms - wheRe You wiLL discoveR what 5-staR seRvice is

to understand great service, it is critical to learn the art of making guests feel welcome. our rooms

division classes let you simulate the role of a front office clerk and manager, a guest and a cashier at our

purpose-built front office counter. You will learn specific industry computer software programs as well

as planning tools and yield management techniques.

throughout the semester, student social committees organize a range

of social and cultural activities both on and off campus. these include

everything from dinner parties and quiz nights, to the weekly running club

gathering, and cultural trips to cities and villages in the area.

the highlights of each semester are cultural night and sports day. cultural

night is the perfect venue to celebrate your country’s culture through

song, dance, art, literature, and whatever else makes you unique. after

the shows and exhibitions, there’s always a chance to taste delicious

foods from around the world. sports day, on the other hand, is all about

teamwork and the spirit of competition as the entire student body comes

together for sports events on campus, the beach and the football pitch.

the day winds down with a barbecue that features live music and good

times with friends, teachers and school staff.
