All our students are from Asturias, a region located in the North of Spain, and they have been carefully screened before their acceptance.. An interview has been done in English to make sure that they can communicate upon arrival. They all speak English! Students are 13 to 17 years old. They travel with their own Health insurance, and they are accompanied by a bilingual tour leader who is on call 24/7 during their entire stay in case of an emergency. OUR TOURS WITH THEM The program includes a two day tour to Atlanta (July 11th and 12th) and a two day tour to Myrtle Beach (July 18th and 19th) for the students. This will be the only time that the students will be together and away from their host families. The idea is that they get to see one of America’s greatest cities and its beautiful coasts. If the host family has other plans with the student during the travelling dates, students will stay with the host family, and will not travel with the group. Ready to give your children the summer of their lives!!?? Do you want to expose them to another culture and language? If you have answe- red yes to any of these questions, then you are ready to become a host family for one of our teenagers from Spain. Hosting means opening your home and hearts to a teen from Spain. Be ready for a month full of learning, sharing and emotions. You will create a bond with a family in Europe that will last forever.

My host family

Your kids and all the family members will experience the differences in the way people live and interact. Every day of the month will be full of emotions and new discoveries.

This is the best way to expose your kids to another language, culture, and the world “out there”, from the comfort of your own home. Your family, all the sudden, will have extended family in Europe.

This is the fourth year for these students in SC and GA, and some of our host families have already traveled to Spain to visit them.

You will create a bond with a teen that could last forever. It is an amazing opportunity for the whole family!!

A representative from Speak and Travel will stay in the US during their stay, and families can contact her at any time, if any issues arise. As a host family, we will only ask you to:

·Provide the students with a bed and space to store their clothes. The students may not share a bed, but they may share a room with a host sibling of the same gender.·Provide breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks for the students.

·Do not leave students alone for too long during the day. We understand that the family may be at work during the day. If that is the case, try to have things for the student to do with other people: siblings, neighbors, they can join camps.. They will be open to do anything to fill their time!. Do not feel like you have to entertain the student all the time.

·Make arrangements for them as you would make for your own kids, no more than that. Doing too many things for them or with them would put too much pressure on you and your family. You all have to enjoy every minute of it! Students only expect to be part of your family. Nothing more..
