CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDITSThe Program Committee has developed an impressive agenda of topics and speakers relating to the theme “Managing Natural Resources at the Speed of Change”. Expert speakers set the context for where we are today and discuss management of forest and allied resources in ways that adapt to emerging issues and technology.

Approximately nine hours of Category 1 CFE credits are possible for SAF Certified Forester and the Georgia and Alabama Registered Forester program requirements.

An exciting Student Track, designed to be especially relevant to students and early career professionals, is planned as a breakout session. Students, be certain to bring your resumes this year, as representatives from Government, Industry, and Graduate Schools will be present and ready to meet you!

QUIZ BOWLThe successful Student Quiz Bowl will continue in 2019 on Sunday evening. Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, Alabama A&M, Auburn, UFL and UGA are encouraged to bring a team to compete in this event. If you would like the challenge of participating, contact the SESAF office at [email protected]. An Alumni Quiz Bowl will follow the student event.

CALL FOR POSTERSThe poster session offers an opportunity for researchers, graduate students, educators, agencies and individuals to present their work to a wide audience. Posters will be set up on Sunday, January 27 between noon and 4:00 p.m., and should be no larger than 4 ft. X 4 ft. Please submit the title, author names, author affiliations, corresponding author contact information and a brief 200 word abstract by January 11, 2018 to Karen Johansen at [email protected]. Please indicate if entering the Student Poster Contest (Cash prizes for students will be $100 for first place and $50 for second place).

Tour of Historic Mobile9:00 AM – 2:00 PM; January 28 (Monday)

Board your coach for a tour of one of the South’s most beautiful and historic cities! Founded in 1702 by the French, Mobile has evolved from a rustic backwater village into one of the most beautiful and historic cities in the South. We hope you will enjoy the diverse architecture, the rich history, and natural beauty of our community. We will have some great stops during the tour. Being the “Birthplace of Mardi Gras in the New World” and “The Mother of Mystics,” we will visit the Carnival Museum, which has an amazing collection of Mardi Gras robes and trains worn by past Kings & Queens, where the history of the celebration will be shared. We will also tour the Richards DAR House. This is a beautiful Italianate style town house run by the Daughters of the American Revolution. Tea will be served. We will also stop at the Basilica of The Immaculate Conception, Mobile’s Catholic Cathedral featuring amazing stained glass, marble altar, and tremendous pipe organ; Lunch will be served in one of our popular local restaurants.
