    A Unique learning experience through an Industry Immersion, The Hotel Takeover is driven in collaboration with The Holiday Inn Express

    Kuala Lumpur City Centre, an Intercontinental Hotel Group. The 383 rooms property is fully taken over by our Bachelor and Diploma students in partnership with the Hotel

    management team.

  • INTRODUCTION

  • INNOVATIVE CONTENT

    HOTEL TAKEOVER PROJECT :

    Tourism & Events ranked 14 th QS World Ranking by subject, has never rested from innovating new learning platforms for its Bachelor of International Hospitality Management and Diploma in Hotel Management students.

    In lieu of our Industry Integrated teaching and

    working closely with our industry partners on various innovative collaborations and one of which is our Hotel Takeover Project with Holiday Inn Express , an IHG hotel. As part of this project our final year Bachelor in International Hospitality Management and Diploma in Hotel Management students will be tasked to manage and operate the hotel for a week. Be it the position of the General Manager, Sales Director, Director of Finance and the Executive Housekeeper, it was all taken over by the students for an entire week to manage the 383 rooms property.

  • PROJECT CONCEPTUALIZATION

    University and HolidayInn Express hotel with the aim ofestablishing a long -termcollaborative relationship topromote co-operation within highereducation and to enhance theopportunities available to studentsin terms of practical exposureundertaking professional tasksat Holiday Inn Express leading totheir career enhancement .

    The hotel on its part will adopt40 students for the Hotel TakeoverProject and will provideprofessional task at the hotel tooperate the 383 property under the

    supervision and training .

    APPLICATION D -21 Days

    Bachelor of International Hospitality students apply for Managerial and Operational positions

    Shortlisting of the applications

    University and Holiday Inn Express hotel

    INTERVIEW

    D -14 Days

    Shortlisted students are screened by the hotel leadership team

    Positions are finalized for both managerial and operational positions

    Diploma students qualify for the operational positions

    SELECTION

    D -13 Days

    Announcement made to students and all relevant stakeholders

    One semester week is identified for the hotel takeover week

    ORIENTATION

    D -10 Days

    All selected candidates report for a

    at the respective departments and by the sectional heads and the hotel general manager.

    TAKEOVER

    5 Days

    University students report at the hotel in their various departments.

    EVALUATION

    D +20 Days

    University and the hotel team will measure the satisfaction of students involved based on the presentation of the students learning experience.

    At the core of the Hotel Takeover Project is the

    means to empower students with the ability to uncover their passions in the hospitality industry by giving them an experience of the real hotel working

    experience.

    We are currently in the third Hotel Takeover project cycle with our

    Industry Partner.
