Two generations have made the Hotel Tirol what it is today, this history has been shaped by our structural growth since it all started in a farmhouse in 1957 . What motivated you to build the Pleasure Lounge?

As the name of the space implies, PLEASURE!Wewantedourgueststo enjoy some of the better things in life during their holidays with us, and hoped to create a space where everyone may simply enjoy feeling good .

Natural and local materials were used in the construction of the Pleasure Lounge. Where does this strong connection with natural materials come from? What is the background?

That too is part of enjoyment andpleasure.Peoplealwaysfeelcomfortable and sheltered in places that have been constructed using top quality, locally sourced and natural materials .

What was the response of your guests?

We are delighted by the positive feedback from youngsters, families and long standing regulars . The combination of modern materials such as sheet glazing, stone and leather, together with traditional materials – 100-150 year old recycled pine timber – has gone down extremely well .

Olive oil tastings are also on the agenda. What happens at this kind of tasting?

We offer our guests various tastings in thePleasureLounge,includingoliveoil tastings . Four or five different oils are served in sequence with white bread cubes, starting from the North to the South of Italy, allowing guests to savour each oil and discover their favourite .


Enjoyment has a new home!Our new Pleasure Lounge is the centre of all your creature comforts. The atmosphere invites to lean back, take a deep breath and have a good time. Stone, leather and wood are the natural materials that shape the room’s character. Extensive glazing gives sunlight a leading role and offers views over the terrace and mountains.

We interview Manuela and Hubert Pregenzer who talk about their personal approach on the subject of enjoyment, what makes the new Pleasure Lounge so special, and all the things awaiting our guests in the new lounge.

Guests can either bring their own cigars or choose from a wide selection of tobacco products. What does the selection include?

For those of our guests who wish to enjoyacigarinthePleasureLoungeevery now and then, our humidor contains a wide selection of cigars fromCuba,theDominicanRepublicand Venezuela . Our humidor’s special feature is a separate compartment with ten lockable boxes in which guests

can store their own favourite cigars . The humidor key is available from reception throughout the stay .

What is your favourite cigar?

What special wines do you have in the vinothèque?

85% of our range are Austrian wines made by young, passionate and ambitious winemakers – there is something to suit every palate .

How often do you have wine tastings and what do you focus on?

We have various themed nights – dates are on our website www .hotel-tirol .net/en/ – alternatively, we can organise special wine tastings for small groups with our sommelier Arno Hofer .

Are there any special delicacies that can be enjoyed in the Pleasure Lounge that are particularly worth mentioning?

The olive oil tastings mentioned earlier, but also pestos & pâtés, antipasti, homemade products, for example bacon or bread, Schnapps tastings with Gerhard Maass, wine tastings with Arno Hofer and the odd surprise every now and then . . .



Winter News ’13/’14➲ NeW sLOPe/rOuTeThe ‘long route’ leads from the Frommes run straight into the Ladis run . This is a 1 .2 km long, up to 80m wide red piste with a snow cannon . The 2km long skyline is marked as a ski route from SchöngampBergtotheFrommesrunandisalsonew .

➲ skiMOvie rOuTeFeel like a ski racer as you are filmed by a special video camera on a parallel piste . Analyse your ski skills, share the video with friends, and be the star of your own movie! You’ll find the route on the north side of Fiss .

26 Jan Bloch pulling in Fiss. In 2011, Bloch pulling was incorporated in the Austrian Directory

of UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. This custom goes back to the tradition of pulling a 35m long stone pine trunk through the village of Fiss. It symbolises a plough that cultivates the fields prior to sowing , heralding the spring. Bloch pulling in Fiss is one of the most famous carnival traditions in the Alps and only held once in four years with more than 10,000 spectators expected. The procession sets off at 12.30pm from the Kulturhaus in Fiss and ends on the Fonnesplatz where the Bloch is auctioned off by the mayor.

EVENTS CELEBRATION– every Tuesday in FissCELEBRATION–that’sthenameofthiswinter’snewNightflowShowinFiss.More than 150 actors and technicians aim to ensure a faultless and exciting show featuring extraordinary and imaginative ski demonstrations by the multi-award winning Fiss-Ladis ski school demo teams plus breakneck contributions from snowboarders and extreme snow sports aficionados . Technology also has a major part to play in the Nightflow Show, as projected images and light effects are used to fabulous effect . The evening concludes with a spectacular firework display . And, to make absolutely sure you miss none of the live performances, the entire show is broadcast on an XXL screen .
