IntroductionOur report is going to compare the housekeeping departments of Pousad a de Mong-ha and Venetian Macao. Pousada de Mong-ha is an educational hotel. The Venetian Macao is a resort hotel. Our group received the answers from Venetian Macao and had a field trip to Pousad a de Mong-ha. We visited the single room in Pousada de Mong-ha and we also had a meeting with Ms. Idol kuan. She gave us lots of information about Pousad a de Mong-ha.

1) The first question is when the hotel opened. Pous d d Mong-h op n d to public sinc 1995. Th Veneti n Macao Reso t Hotel opened in Aug 28th, 2007. As you can see, Pousada de Mong-ha opened twelve years earlier than Venetian Macao. 2) The second question is how many staff s total are there in housekeeping department. In Pousada de Mong-ha, there are seven staffs in housekeeping depart ent. Venetian Macao has about 1,000 team members. But, Pousada de Mong-ha has 20 rooms and Venetian Macao has 3000 rooms. After our calculation, we found that the Pousada de Mong-ha s staff ratio is 1: 2.8 but that of Venetian Macao is 1:3.

3) The third question is what positions are there in housekeeping department. We are going to show you the difference in the following form. Base on the form, we can see that scale of Venetian Macao is much higher than that of Pousada de Mong-ha. Pousada de Mong-ha Housekeeping Manager x1 Room Attendant x2 Linen Room Attendant x4 Venetian Macao Director Assistant Director Executive Housekeeper (PAD & Suite) Assistant Executive Housekeeper Assistant Manager (Wardrobe) Duty Manager Supervisor and Guest Service Agent4 The forth question is the room configuration detail and individual types.

There are 4major room types in Venetian.

Royal

Typical suite with 1 king bed

Bella

Typical suite with 2 queen beds

Double of its size Rialto typical suite with 1 king bed

Double of its size to Verona typical suite with 2 queen beds

While in Pousada, there totally have 20 rooms in 3 room types.

8 x Deluxe Room

4 x Suite

5 Our fifth question asked for the number of rooms / units workout by each Room Attendant every day.

In Venetian, there are

11 credits per room attendant.

In Pousada, there are Max 10 rooms per day. 6) The sixth question is how many areas under the housekeeping department managing & responsibility, and their names. For Venetian, they are in charge of the cleanliness of all hotel suites, front of house area (except non-property owned shops and restaurants), heart of house area (except kitchen), laundry & linen and uniform. In Pousada, they are in charge of the guestroom & linen Room.

7) The seventh question is what kinds of chemical are using in guestroom for cleaning. In Pousada De Mong-ha Macau, they use Ecolab same as mock housekeeping room . And in Venetian, the major chemicals for daily usage are Multi Purpose Disinfectant Cleaner, Window Cleaner and Air Freshener. We can see, in Pousada and Venetian, they use almost same chemicals to clean guestrooms. 8) The eighth question is how often of deep cleaning arranged in your guestroom and on Public Area? What are those areas? Example: guest area in p ublic washrooms cleaned by daily even by hourly. In Pousada De Mong-ha, they will arrange the deep cleaning for guestroom in weekly/monthly/yearly: Weekly Replace shower curtain, clean lights, scrub bathroom title & grout Monthly High dusting, exterior window cleaning, A/C vent cleaning Yearly Carpet shampoo, sofa cleaning, sheer/heavy curtain cleaning, marble polishing ...etc For the public areas inside the IFT campus which is handled by Central Services. They have their own cleaning team. But in Venetian, Quarterly Guest suite's deep cleaning included dusting all furniture surfaces, vacuum underneath of furniture, carpet Monthly Public area's deep cleaning included guest & staff toilet, back of house staircase, staff toilet, floor maintenance,

shampoo, marble polish, stripping duvet ceiling, ventilation and etc. and pillow and send out for tumbling dry. Compare these two hotels, in Pousada they arrange the deep cleaning at least weekly. But in Venetian the guestroom deep cleaning is a quarterly project, and the public area s deep cleaning is a monthly project. We could see Pousada is more frequently to have the deep cleaning than Venetian. It was because Venetian have too many guestroom and the public area also very large. And for Pous ada they just have 20 guestrooms, the public area is also small, it s easy to clean. So Pousada is even cleaner.

11) How many type of linen in guestroom? How many in both bath & living room? In Venetian, the par level is about 4 par for daily operating linen and in Pousada, it s about 8 par. our group think that venetian should Add more par of linen in case of emergency. 14) How could you manage staffs succe ssfully as keep up their morale? More communication to learn each other, identify the strengthens or weakness of the staff in order to provide suitable training or instruction, give compliment in right time 15) What else I should know as failed to raise it up ? Definite you need a larger data storage if you want to cover everything in Housekeeping operation.

RecommendationAlthough Pousada is much smaller in size, it has won Michelin recommendation for the third year running! These two hotels provide guests with perfect housekeeping services.

ConclusionHousekeeping departments of Pousada de Mong-ha and Venetian is very differ in the structure. Venetian Macau is a hotel with modern housekeeping style while Pousada de Mong-ha keeps the ordinary structure. It can be easily seen from the usage of Operating system. What s more, Venetian Macau is much larger than Pousada de Mong-ha in size, but they are all su ccessful in operation.
