The Housing Support Pointprovides a single point of contactfor all people to access short-termaccommodation and housingrelated support services (up to twoyears) within Stockport, funded bythe Supporting Peopleprogramme.

Housing related support covers awide variety of areas such asassistance with life skills, forexample:• cooking;• budgeting;• shopping;• help to access health,

education and employmentservices;

• support to claim the rightwelfare benefits; and

• how to stay safe and secure inthe place you are living.

This support can take place inboth accommodation schemes(covered in the first section of thisleaflet ) and floating supportservices where support workerscan visit you in your own home tohelp you settle into a new home orsupport you in maintaining yourcurrent home (covered in thesecond section ).

Housing related support doesnot include personal care suchas help with personal tasks likebathing or giving medication.

The Referral ProcessA referral form can be completedby a person directly or by anyagency working on behalf of aservice-user to help them getsupport.

Referral forms are available atwww.stockporthomes.org orfrom the Housing InformationCentre, 1 St. Peter’s Square.Referrals can either be completedthrough our website, be posted,emailed, faxed or handed in to theoffice at the Housing InformationCentre. The Housing SupportPoint will carry out an assessmentof what support is needed andinform applicants and the personmaking the referral of theavailability of services.

Who is the Servicefor?

AccommodationInformation

Single self-containedflats and a twobedroom sharedhouse.

Accommodationranges from ‘studio’units to threebedroom flats. Fullyadapted units areavailable. All units arefully furnished andself-catering.

20 units are singlerooms with sharedbathroom andkitchen facilities. Theother two units arefully adapted, one ofwhich isself-contained withown kitchen andbathroom. Allaccommodation isfully furnished andself-catering.

A room in someone’s home,fully furnished, with accessto the lounge, bathroom andkitchen. Breakfast andevening meals provided.

Accommodation includesself-contained flats andshared houses (females canbe referred to self containedflats only).

Single room within 4 flats,fully furnished with sharedfacilities. All rooms are selfcatering.

Cluster typeaccommodation containingthree single rooms, acommunal kitchen andbathroom. Mother and babyaccommodation units areself-contained, one of whichis adapted. All units are fullyfurnished andself-catering.

Who is this service for?

Resettlement and tenancy supportoffers a comprehensive supportpackage to help service-users set up ahome and sustain their tenancy on along term basis, or offering help toexisting tenants who may be in crisisand / or at risk of losing their home.

Adults aged between 18 to 65 yearswith mental health support needs.Accommodation may also be availablethrough this service.

Single people and couples with mentalhealth needs over the age of 18. Youdo not need to have a formal diagnosisor be under the care of other servicesto access this support.Accommodation may also be availablethrough this service.

Women over the age of 18 withcomplex needs and those who areexperiencing mental health problems asa result of surviving childhood sexualabuse, rape or domestic violence.

Who is this service for?

Those with a mental health problem aged18 and over, who require intensive supportas a result of this. All service-users have tobe receiving care co-ordination from MentalHealth Services.

People with Mental Health problems aged18 or over. Accommodation may also beavailable through this service.

Women and children affected by DomesticViolence and abuse.

Single offenders and ex-offenders over theage of 18 years.
