Why Mission?Experience. Reliability. Vision.

Mission’s management had an

integral role in developing data

cellular transport technologies with

Bell South in 1996. In late 1999, we

used that experience to create

Mission. We were the first to bring

the technology to the water/waste-

water industry; first to transport

data on the digital cellular system;

first to stream data continuously on

it and first to offer service on major

cellular systems. In all these areas,

Mission was the first and is still the

best. Nobody has near the experience,

volume of field units, or numbers of

satisfied customers.

When it’s critical, trust Mission.

So why don’t you get started

today? Our SCADA experts are waiting

to hear from you. Contact a Missionrepresentative at 1-877-993-1911 to

ELECTRICALDigital Inputs: 8 dry contact inputs on M110 and M800series support alarms, status, or accumulating pumpsruntimes/starts. The M110 and M800 can be expandedto 16 digital inputs. The Manhole Monitor in-sewer RTUhas 2 digital inputs that are typically used with floats tosense surcharge and high sewer level.

Built-in Inputs: The M110 and M800 RTUs have 4 built-ininputs: temperature, signal strength, battery voltage andA/C voltage. This status information is transmitted hourly.

Key Reader Input: The key reader, included with M110and M800 RTUs, allow on-site personnel to log a sitevisit and suspend alarms while service is performed atthe station. Management can track the key entries forproductivity and regulatory reporting purposes.

Analog Inputs: M110 and M800 RTUs come with 2 analoginputs to report pressure, level or any 4-20mA or 0-5Vinput from a transducer. The inputs can be expanded to 6 with the analog expansion board. Analog inputssupport 4 threshold alarms settings that can be remotelyconfigured.

Pulse Inputs (optional): 2 pulse inputs can be used toreport data such as flow, water meter or rainfall totals. If no rainfall data is monitored at the site, Mission’s website presents data from the closest National WeatherService reporting station.

Input Wiring Supervision: M110 and M800 RTU digitalinput wires use End-Of-Line resistors for wiring super-vision similar to fire alarm panels. Wiring supervisiondetects if wires break or become disconnected and thusunable to respond to alarm conditions.

Digital Outputs:The M110 and M800 series support 3relay outputs that can be remotely controlled. These areused for many purposes including turning on an emer-gency pump or security light. Multiple M800s can belinked so an event at one station causes a relay change atanother. Mission’s Tank and Well Control package relieson this feature.

Wet Well Module:The Model 110 and 800 have a quickconnect for the optional wet well module. This deviceconveniently packages 2 strap-on current sensors fortrue pump run information with a patented high levelfloat circuit that “T” taps into the existing high float. This greatly reduces installation time and provides for abattery backed up high float alarm. Now you can gethigh-level alarms even when there is no A/C power.

Power and Backup Power: The M110 and M800 RTUsoperate safely on 12V via the supplied UL recognizedtransformer. They include a 5 amp hour battery with acharging circuit that powers the units for 24-72 hoursduring a power failure. There is an automatic alarm forexternal power failure and low battery conditions. Theincluded 120VAC to 12VAC transformer mounts sepa-rate from the RTU to protect the main board and radiofrom voltage spikes. A solar panel option is available forremote locations. The Manhole Monitor unit includes asealed 5+ year life battery so no external power sourceis required.

COMMUNICATIONSMission provides wireless communications through the data transmission services of several cellularproviders in the US. Mission employs redundant, private, firewalled gateways through the cellular system toredundant servers. M110 and M800 make continuousand secure socket connections through the cellular systems to our servers resulting in virtually instantaneousdata transmissions. Alarms and data are end-to-endacknowledged (from the RTU to the servers and back).

INITIAL SYSTEM SETUPRTU and software screen setup is done through Mission’sweb-based software. Mission makes it very simple forcustomers to bring a new unit online. Simply fill out aone-page setup form, e-mail or fax it to us and we’llcomplete the setup for you. Advanced setup optionsare available. As always, everything is included in theflat Annual Service Fee.

ALARM AND SYSTEM MESSAGESMission’s alarm system offers flexibility and versatility. You can have one callout group during the week andanother on nights and weekends. Different categoriesof alarms can notify different alarm callout groups.Simultaneously have the on-call person get a call ontheir cell and their pager while also emailing the bossand sending a fax to the plant. For every alarm, you alsoget a full log of every call, page, email and fax withwhat happened in each notification attempt; we evenrecord each alarm phone call. Customers can listen tothe alarm call on any web-enabled device with speakers.

OPERATOR INTERFACEMission’s SCADA screens and reports are deliveredsecurely via the web. Screens and data exchanges useSSL (Secure Socket Layer) security. The screens havepoint and click simplicity. The main screen is a map ofthe customers’ service area with their sites. The map is animated to indicate when pumps are running (M800).Click on a site icon and the most current information forthe site is displayed in a small “popup” box. Site iconschange color to indicated alarms, service mode, disabledalarms and more. Reports and graphs have “fly over”data point value display and many have zoom and printfunctions.

WARRANTYOne year parts warranty; FOB Atlanta, GA. Additionally,Mission offers low, fixed RTU board and radio replace-ment costs for the life of the RTU. Refer to the ManagedSCADA document for more information on the warrantyand what is included with the annual service.

FIELD UPGRADESThe Mission RTU firmware upgrades are free with chipexchange.

Where Can You Use Mission Systems?

1. Complete stand alone alarm and SCADA systemTypically, small to medium size municipalities use the Mission system as a complete stand-alone alarm ormanaged SCADA system. This works especially well for lift stations, at less than half the price of customSCADA. Mix and match the M110, M800 and Manhole Monitor to meet your needs.

2. Dialer replacementA full Mission SCADA system costs less than a dialer. Mission SCADA tracks levels, pump runtimes, pumpstarts and prepares reports too. You can upgrade one dialer at a time or the whole collection system.

3. Backup to existing problem or critical sitesMission can provide end-to-end backup at problem or critical sites that should have redundant monitor-ing and alarming. This improves system reliability and effectiveness for daily operations.

4. Fill-in to existing SCADA – Hybrid or blended systemView your Mission data through our portal or send the data into your existing SCADA software via Mission’sOPC client for redundant HMIs! This will allow you to monitor low priority, hard to reach or expensive toaccess sites. It will also help you to expand your SCADA system to new sites or monitor sites that are farfrom your existing SCADA system. Some sites are complex and need custom SCADA while other sites arestraightforward and can use Mission. System savings are typically in the tens of thousands of dollars, bothup-front and over time.

5. In-sewer monitoring and alarmingMonitoring your manholes can identify problems before they escalate and ultimately lead to spills. This savesyou from regulatory problems and fines, it creates a cleaner environment and it may allow you to locate otherproblem areas throughout your system. These battery driven systems are completely under the road bed, waterproof and rugged, low maintenance and cost less than $1 per day to operate.

Add rainfall tipping buckets to get a complete rainfall monitoring system!

The Bottom LineWhen it comes to value, the pricing structure of Mission simply makes more sense. Custom SCADA providers willtell you that you only need to pay one up front fee to use their technology. What they’re leaving out is the continued onsite maintenance, repair and license fee that their systems require.

Why Mission?Experience. Reliability. Vision.

Mission’s management had an

integral role in developing data

cellular transport technologies with

Bell South in 1996. In late 1999, we

used that experience to create

Mission. We were the first to bring

the technology to the water/waste-

water industry; first to transport

data on the digital cellular system;

first to stream data continuously on

it and first to offer service on major

cellular systems. In all these areas,

Mission was the first and is still the

best. Nobody has near the experience,

volume of field units, or numbers of

satisfied customers.

When it’s critical, trust Mission.

So why don’t you get started

today? Our SCADA experts are waiting

to hear from you. Contact a Missionrepresentative at 1-877-993-1911 tolearn how we can deploy the right

solution to fit your needs, at a fraction

of the cost of building a customized

SCADA platform. Discover more
