HOW DID YOU USE MEDIA TECHNOLOGIES IN THE CONSTRUCTION AND

RESEARCH, PLANNING AND EVALUATION STAGES?

THE BLOG

• The blog was key to everything I did. If I spotted something I liked or thought I would use I would put it straight up onto the blog. I did this because it was a good way to track my progress of what and how I was doing it. I also put up all of my final products onto the blog for display. I could also show my progress with the media products. It was also a good way to log my progress through the diary I kept. The diary explains what I did each week and how I went about completing a task. On the blog I also kept all of the planning and research I had completed over the coursework period.

THE EQUIPMENT

• Before I got to start filming I first had to look into what type of equipment I would need to research into what equipment I would need to be using. I first looked at the Canon SLR. This is the camera I ended up shooting most of my music video with as you can get the best quality shots and really good detail. I also looked at different lenses such as the fish eye lens which gives a weird, distorted effect. I looked into using a green screen but decided against it as it didn’t really suit the mood of my video. I used a tripod to give me a secure shot as well as highly focused shots. I used a shoulder harness to get close panning shots of my artists. The handheld camera Panasonic hdc-sd10 I used to film around London gave me a look of raw footage which sets a dark tone for the video.

TECHNOLOGY

• After filming my music video I then had to put the footage into Adobe Premier CS6. With this piece of software I was able to cut and splice bits of footage together to create my music video. I also had to try and synch my footage up with the music so it looked like they were singing the song itself. This was challenging but the software gave me loads of ways to edit it so it fit together well. In Premier I took advantage of the fades and dissolves you could use to improve my video.

MAGAZINE ADVERT AND DIGIPAK

• The magazine advert and the Digipak were both created using Adobe Photoshop CS6. This made it easier for me to edit and add to the images, for example if I wanted to make the model’s skin brighter or darker it was easy for me to adjust. I used the negative image tool to give a glowing effect to my model and then gave him blue eyes. The advert had lots of different effects on the text so this gave it more of an effective appeal. The Digipak was similar in the way it was produced when compared with the advert. I used a similar image for the front cover and the inside cover, so to create a recognisable and stand out image to look for when buying the album.
