By doing this, it broadens the audience of the piece, even if the reader is not up to date with the events in Syria, they will be familiar with the issues of equality and feminism.

MAIN PURPOSE OF ARTICLE

We were tasked to ‘appeal to the emotions of our target audience.’ From my piece, I feel I will make people understand more the plight of these young women; pulling on the heartstrings of those reading.

Also, the feminism aspect would intrigue and inform the reader- highlighting the ongoing battles women still have to go through in this day and age when pursuing roles in the military.
