His ideasWilliams believed that the church had too much power in governing the colony and he said the church and government should be separate (which that is how it is today). He also believed laws were too strict. These ideas led him to being banished from Boston by the general court. This led to him to bargaining with the Narragansetts for a piece of land to start a community that he eventually called providence. People who didnt like the strict laws and not being aloud to believe certain beliefs could come to providence even if Williams didnt agree with their beliefs. Eventually three more towns were created and they all joined in 1636 and this is how Rhode Island came to be.

Williams is trying to persuade the Indians to give him a piece of land.

He preached his ideas even if people didnt like the ideas. His spouse was Mary Barnard. He was a Dad with six children. He had a town he called providence founded in 1636.

Roger Williams believed in lots of ideas and these ideas stand before us today.Even though preaching his ideas got him banished from Salem, Boston, History would be different without what happened.

Roger Williams Rhode Island might not have been created and there would only be 49 states.
