1. Pastor Jeremy mentioned five excuses that stop us from loving God with all our strength. Which one have you used recently?

Read Isaiah 40:27-312. In context, these verses are about a people who have no strength and are

wondering where God is in their struggles. The word “weary” (v. 28) means to be overcome by circumstances. Which of your circumstances in life cause you to wonder where God is at and produce that “weary” feeling in you?

3. Why do we so often forget who God is? Practically, what is going on in our hearts that leads us to forget God and doubt our faith?

4. Our tendency when we are weary is to figure everything out on our own, yet Isaiah said the key to overcoming our weariness is waiting on the Lord. What does it look like for you to wait on the Lord? What are some active ways we can “wait” on the Lord in order to renew and love God with our strength?

Read Hebrews 11:1-385. Briefly share what you know about some of these Old Testament individuals.

Do you have any favorite stories from the individuals listed here?

6. How does the author define “faith?” How does assurance and confidence help you love God with all your strength? What is the difference between faith and belief?

7. From these verses or the knowledge of their stories, what can you identify in their lives that caused them to love God with all their strength?

8. Where or who do you turn when you are weary and your strength is zapped?

9. Read 2 Corinthians 12:9. How does God’s response to the apostle Paul encourage you in the midst of your struggles and weaknesses? How do our weaknesses serve in strengthening our faith?

10. When you think about what Christ and believers who followed Him before us endured, how does it shed new light on your own struggles in perseverance?
