HOW TO ACCESS INFORMATION ON THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC

SAFETY ADMINISTRATION’S WEBSITE ABOUT RECALLS OF TOYOTA

VEHICLES SOLD OR OFFERED FOR SALE IN THE UNITED STATES

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (“NHTSA”) provides information on its

website about all safety recalls involving vehicles sold or offered for sale in the United States.

To access the information, you can click on this link: http://www-

odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/owners/SearchVehicles.

This will take you to this page.

The NHTSA website allows an owner of a particular vehicle (or a prospective purchaser of such

a vehicle) to see if there have been any safety recalls involving the make, model, and model year

of his or her vehicle. Thus, if you do not know the ID Number for a recall, as designated by

NHTSA, you must enter the relevant information using the pull-down menus provided by

NHTSA. Also, please be aware that since many recalls do not apply to every vehicle from a

given model year, the process described below does not permit a vehicle owner to be certain

whether his or her vehicle was included in the recall.

At the first screen, select a Model Year from the pull-down menu.

In this example, we’ve selected “2009” by clicking on the arrow for “Model Year.”

Then, select the desired “Make” of vehicle (e.g., Toyota, Lexus, or Scion) by clicking on the

arrow for “Make” and choosing the desired selection from the pull-down menu. In this example,

we’ve selected “Toyota.”

Then, select the desired “model” of vehicle by clicking on the arrow for “Model” and using the

desired selection from the pull-down menu. In this example, we’ve selected “Camry.”

Once you’ve made your selections, press “Go.”

This will take you to the following screen:

From this screen, you can get information on recalls by clicking on the “Recalls” tab.

That will take you to a screen like the one below that shows you the recalls involving the model

you’ve selected.

By scrolling down the page, you can see summary information about the various recalls

involving the model. You also can get documents associated with the recall using the

“Associated Documents” link.
