SUGGESTED STEPS FOR AGRICULTURAL POND

EVALUATION & APPROVAL TO BUILD

Note: This preliminary assessment does NOT constitute a formal soil or geologic investigation or a pond design, and should not be used for construction. The information on this form represents a preliminary site assessment to evaluate the feasibility of a potential pond site, and assist in determining the priority for engaging engineering services for a more thorough site investigation and design.

SUGGESTED STEPS FOR AGRICULTURAL POND

EVALUATION & APPROVAL TO BUILD

1. Contact NRCS/SWCD to complete Preliminary Site Assessment for New Ponds Review potential alternatives for agricultural water needs Review potential regulatory requirements Determine availability of technical and/or financial assistance

2. Secure preliminary pond layout (DLR Dam permit requirements)

3. USDA-FSA Farm Serial Number - initiate AD-1026 for Wetland Conservation (WC) certification; Confidentiality Agreement

4. No USDA-FSA Farm Serial Number, take Preliminary Site Assessment for New Ponds to Corps, DLR & DWQ for a preliminary assessment of regulatory requirements

5. Construct pond only after securing required permits and/or exemptions
