HOW TO BOIL AN EGG
Ingredients
Eggs • Choose any type of
egg you prefer (e.g., brown, white, cage free, etc.).
• Older eggs set and peal better.
Water • Tap water is fine. Ice Salt (Optional)
Tools
• Pot and lid • Colander • Slotted spoon
(optional) • Bowl • Serving dish
1. Place eggs in pot and fill with cold water
a. Place eggs in pot. b. Fill with cold water.
a. One inch above eggs.
c. Add a tablespoon of salt.
2. Set over high heat on stove
a. Place pot on stove burner.
b. Set heat to high.
3. Bring to a rolling boil
a. Bring to a rolling boil. b. Boil for two minutes.
4. Turn off heat and put lid on pot
a. Turn off heat and cover the pot with lid.
5. Set a timer
a. Set a timer to your desired doneness for the egg yolk.
b. These are approximate times: a. Soft: 4 minutes b. Medium: 6
minutes c. Hard: 8-10
minutes
6. Drain the eggs
a. Drain the eggs in the colander.
b. Briefly run cold water over eggs to be able to handle them or use a slotted spoon.
7. Crack the egg’s shell
a. Crack the shell.
8. Transfer eggs to bowl with ice water
a. Fill a bowl with ice and water, enough to cover the eggs.
b. Transfer eggs to the ice water bath.
c. Allow to sit for 1–2 minutes.
9. Remove eggs from ice water and peel
a. Remove eggs from ice water bath.
b. Peel the eggs. c. Rinse peeled egg
with water.
10. Place in serving dish and eat!
