How to build a powerful STEM
Program
What are we trying to solve?• Competitions focus on High School Students• Gifted and Talented are the most chosen for programs• Competitions are expensive
• $1,500 a team for VEX plus robot cost• $5,000 a team for First plus robot cost• Costs result in limited participation• It is pay to play which limits how many can participate and who
the district will choose to participate
• We believe that all students should have fun and learn about coding and robotics. Why because it ignites the desire to learn and provides context for difficult subjects such as Mathematics and Science.
Five Star Innovation
• $125 per team• Robotics, coding and STEM
Projects• Robotics and Coding
• Robots under $1,500• Robot agnostic• Code agnostic
• STEM Projects• Solve a real world problem• Defend your project to the judges• Must not be a kit
• Electronic Protective Systems• Defense related• Modeled after DARPA Competitions• Echo Team Volunteers
Structure• First half day or day
• practice and speakers• Second Day Competition
• Open at 8am close at 3pm• Awards at 4pm
• Goals• Lift up the military as a powerful
innovative asset to our communities
• Lift up our school districts as being innovative and working to grow out communities
