How to create a Panopto Lecture with
Web-cam and PowerPoint
Setting up Panopto in Blackboard
1. Log into Blackboard and navigate to the Homepage of the selected course.
2. Click Tools on the left navigation panel.

3. Click Panopto Focus Content.
4. Click Configure.
5. Click Create New Folder. (Captured lectures will be stored in the folder)

6. Enter the Folder Name (In this example, folder name is Lesson Three), click OK, then
click Submit. Now, the Folder has been set up.

7. Click Windows or Mac to download Panopto Focus Recorder to your computer. After
downloading, install it.

Log into Panopto
1. Once download completed, double-click the downloaded program, and then click Run –
Next – Install. Now, Panopto login page should pop up; if not, click on the Panopto icon
on the task bar.
2. On the login page, click Log in with Blackboard (DON’T type in anything in Username or
Password).
3. Type in your Username and Password (the same with your MyCLU account). Then click
Login.

4. Now you are ready to record with Panopto.
Record with Panopto
1. Click the Show Folder Icon to choose the Folder you want to save the recording.

2. Hover over folder Lesson Three, then click Add New Session.
3. Create name for the new session. In this example, session name is Lecture for Tuesday.

4. Away from Panopto, run PowerPoint from Start menu, select and open the PowerPoint
presentation you want to capture.
5. Back to Panopto again, make sure only Capture PowerPoint is checked in Secondary
Capture Sources.
6. Check Start presenting when recording starts.

7. Set up Audio and Video.
a. Choose Video source.
b. Choose Audio source.

8. Double check you’ve selected correct Video and Audio sources.
9. Click Record.

10. Now, your PowerPoint should pop up and start playing. You can start talking as well as
nagivating PowePoint slides. Once done, press Esc on your keyboard, click Panopto icon
on the taskbar, then click Stop.
11. Panopto will now, upload your recording to the server automatically. You can do
nothing, but wait for it Processing, Queued for encoding, and Encoding In progress.
12. Once the lecture has been uploaded to server successfully, click View to view the
lecture you just created. You will view the lecture in a browser.
13. Go through the lecture, make sure it’s ready to share with the students. If not satisfied,
just go ahead and create a new one.

Publish to Blackboard
1. Switch to Blackboard, navigate to the course folder you want to post the recoded
lecture. Hover over Tools, click Panopto Video Link.
2. Choose Folder Lesson Three, Lecture Lecture for Tuesday, then give this video a title.
Click Submit.

3. Click Ok I necessary. The video is ready for students to view.
