HOW TO FIGHT
SATAN
Part 2
I PETER 5:8-9
Satan is out to get us.
I Peter 5:8 Be sober, be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking some one to devour.
Job 1:7 And the Lord said to Satan, "Where have you come from?'‘
So Satan answered the Lord and said, "From going to and fro on the earth, and from walking back and forth on it.''
The Bible encourages us to stand firm against Satan. Ephesians 4:27
And give no opportunity to the devil.
It has been this way since the beginning.
I Corinthians 16:13 Be watchful, stand firm in your faith, be courageous, be strong.
I Thessalonians 5:21-22 Test all things; hold fast what is good. Abstain from every
form of evil.
How Can We Stand Against Satan?
Watch And Pray Matthew 26:41. "Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit
indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.''
Quote Scripture
Jesus did Matthew 4.
To quote Scripture, you must know Scripture.
II Timothy 2:15 Study to show yourself approved unto God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of
truth.
The word of God is a powerful tool to have at our disposal when fighting against Satan.
It would be to our advantage to take this advice to heart
Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the
division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
II Timothy 3:16-17 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for
doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete,
thoroughly equipped for every good work.
Not enough just to know it. Must put into practice Hosea 4:6
My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.
We should never allow this to be said about us.
Put On The Whole Armor Of God, Ephesians 6:10-17
We Must Learn Satan’s Devices
II Corinthians 2:11 Lest Satan should take advantage of us; for we are not
ignorant of his devices.
What are some of his devices?Pleasure
The pleasures of sin last only for a short time.
Hebrews 11:25 Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God than
to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin,
I Corinthians 9:27 But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when
I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified.
To fight Satan we must practice self-control.
Riches
Luke 12:20-21 "But God said to him, `You fool! This night your soul will be required of you; then whose will those things be which you
have provided?' So is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.''
I Timothy 6:10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and
pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
Worldly ThingsJames 4:4
Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to
be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.
I John 2:15-17 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in
the world the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life is not of the Father but is of the world. And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of
God abides forever.
Religion II Corinthians 11:14-15 And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers
also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works.
I John 4:1 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, to see whether they are of God; because many false prophets have
gone out into the world.
Persecution II Timothy 3:12
Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.
Hebrews 12:3-4 For consider Him who endured such hostility
from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary and discouraged in your souls. You have not yet
resisted to bloodshed, striving against sin.
Revelation 2:10 Do not fear any of those things which you are about to suffer. Indeed, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be
tested, and you will have tribulation ten days. Be faithful unto death, and I will give you the crown of
life.
Satan blinds the minds of some. II Corinthians 4:4
Whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the
glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.
Through Indifference
Matthew 13:15 For the heart of this people has grown dull. Their ears are hard of hearing, and their eyes they have closed, lest they should see with their eyes
and hear with their ears, lest they should understand with their heart and turn, so that I should
heal them.'
Opposition
How does he do this?
Acts 13:45-46 But when the Jews saw the multitudes, they were filled with envy; and contradicting and blaspheming, they opposed the things spoken by Paul. Then Paul and Barnabas grew bold and said, "It was necessary that the word of God should be
spoken to you first; but since you reject it, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, behold, we turn to the Gentiles.
Procrastination Acts 24:25
Now as he reasoned about righteousness, self-control, and the judgment to come, Felix was afraid and answered, "Go away for now; when I have a convenient time I will call for
you.''
“We have plenty of time,” is the devil’s lie.James 4:14
Whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time
and then vanishes away.
Resist Him
I Corinthians 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your strength, but with the temptation will also provide the way of
escape, that you may be able to endure it.
Resist SatanResist Temptation
James 4:7-8 Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from
you. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts,
you double-minded. I Peter 5:9
Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world.
“Be gone, Satan.”
HOW HARD ARE YOU
TRYING TO RESIST HIM?
