Lots of people have headaches. You should not, however, convince
yourself that having a raging headache every day or even every week.
The purpose of this article is to look at some proven techniques to help
prevent or cure stress headaches. Depending on what has been causing
your headaches to happen, some of the methods we talk about will
probably work a lot better than others.
A fast and still effective method for helping a stress headache is an ice
pack. It's possible to make a quick ice pack using a bag of ice or bag of
frozen veggies and wrapping a towel around it. Lie down and try to
relax while putting the ice pack on your forehead and moving it every
few minutes to the top of your head and your forehead. Let it sit the
longest where you feel the most pain. Ice acts as an anti-inflammatory
which helps lower the amount of pain you are feeling. This won't
address the underlying cause of your stress headaches but it will offer
you some good relief.
One common cause of stress headaches is dehydration, so drinking
more water can be the solution. You may not know exactly when you
are dehydrated especially if you are distracted by work or other things.
Remember: drinking more of a caffeinated beverage like soda or energy
drinks or coffee isn't a good idea because that can actually exacerbate
your headaches. Drinking water or maybe some herbal iced tea or pure
fruit juice is the best way to rehydrate your body. Eating too much salty
food can contribute to dehydration, so you may want to reduce your
intake of junk foods and salty snacks as well.

Do you wear things on or around your head; because doing so can add
to your headaches. A headband would be an obvious culprit, but
anything, including hats, sunglasses, helmets or even headphones could
be causing tension in that area. Some people are prone to things called
external compression headaches, which are the result of pressure
around the skull. Something that might not feel uncomfortable when
you put it on may be constricting the blood flow when you keep it on
for hours at a time.
So, if you're always wearing something on your head you should try
giving it a break.
To sum up, stress headaches aren't anything that anybody wants to
deal with. They can be brought on by anything from illness to complex
internal issues to wearing a hat that is too tight. You can try one or
more of the above methods to ease your stress headaches, and if these
aren't effective you should consult a medical professional.
