We decided to come up with a complete DIY guide for installing or setting up a satellite dish &decoder for DSTV, MyTV, Multi TV & etcetera without paying an installer/technician after werecently installed one for a student who complained of haing not een half our installation fees!

We concluded that a guide li"e this can help a lot of persons install their satellite dishes without a #ug of any "ind!

$ollowing this guide step #y step will help you install and setup your satellite T dishes withoutthe usual missing channels, poor signal and related issues that happens as a result of lowtechnical "now%how for installing satellite dishes!

Tools Needed

•  The Satellite dish and components ie! 'eflector, (n#f and Decoder! They are usually

sold together)

• * good hammer

This part is necessary if you are going to use a pipe and not the house roof, wall or woodenfetcher #oard #efore the roof!

The pipe must #e fi4ed on an open space without trees and/or other hindrances! 1elow is thetools necessary for mounting your satellite dish in a open space outside the #uilding or with a

longer pipe!

How to Setup the Satellite DishThe satellite dish components will usually come in separate parts and must #e arranged in such away that ma"es it easy to receie signals and withstand strong wind!

The arrangement of the dish components depends on where you intend mounting it on, if you aregoing to mount it on a root, wall or wooden fetcher #oard of the #uilding, loo" at the image #elow for how it should #e coupled!

If you intend mounting it on a pipe outside the #uilding, loo" at the image #elow and use thetools listed in the extra tools section a#oe to ma"e it solid and well grounded!

The last things needed to complete this section is to fit in the screws and nuts in the reflector9sdish) rear and connect the (51$ accordingly! See images #elow for the tips!

This is the part where your digital satellite signal meter will come into play! lug the 3oa4ialca#le into the (n#f #ase of the main dish assem#ly and then plug the other end of the ca#le intothe LNB in *ntenna) port in the #ac" of a digital satellite signal meter or a strong decoder!

3omplete the second part also "nown as dish alignment #y locating east, west, points anddegrees depending on the satellite t proider you intend doing the setup for!

Do note that for this tutorial, we used a strong decoder as a digital satellite signal meter) toinstall a DSTV satellite dish and then connected the ln#f ca#le to the DSTV decoder to watch allthe channels aaila#le for our selected plan!

This is the last steps for installing a satellite dish yourself, once the polarity, or#ital position andtransponder alues for your chosen satellite proider is noted, moe on to this step to completethe channels scan and full actiation!

$rom your strong decoder remote control, find  Menu and then select installation! ?nter 0000 as

the password and Select manual scanning and then enter your satellite proider9s alues as listeda#oe ?g! eutelsat w+/A, transponder fre@uency and the rest!

$or Dst we did the setup as follows:

• We selected ?utelsat w+/A

• <nder fre@uency, we put .22+0

• <nder sym#ol rate, we put 2A0

• <nder polarisation, we put B

*t this point, the signal power and @uality meter will start reading, start rotating your reflectordish) up/down and side ways around -E degrees east see your neigh#ors own for tips or readdirectly from your digital satellite signal meter)!

Watch the signal power and @uality and tight the dish strongly once you are a#le to get alueshigher than EF We got 8F for ours)!

;nce a good signal @uality is ascertained, your satellite dish is all setup!

Disconnect the (51%in from your strong decoder or digital satellite meter) and connect it to theDSTV decoder! Select ?nglish from the language options, ?-E*%1 from the ne4t window andUniversal  for (51 type! Bit scan to install and complete the channels setup!

Note: If you are using a digital signal meter, the scan option won9t #e necessary! *ll you need dois, connect the (51%in to the meter and enter the fre@uency, polariCation and sym#ol rate alueswhile aligning the dish for #est signal @uality!

This is a ery common error with actiating new accounts, you can correct this error if after -minutes of actiation, your su#scri#ed premium) channels are yet to show up!

You can correct the ?.E error #y sending reset plus your smartcard number  eg! reset.2-+0EA8) as an SMS to ---- or #y using the clear error code – E16  option on the self%serice section of the DSTV we#site!
