Use a sharp-pointed steak knife or box cutter to pry the backplate off of the watch casing. Most watches have a little groove(shown) to make this easier. As soon as it comes off, look to seeif there is a little gap cut into the back plate where the watchwinding stem passes through. Knowing this will make poppingthe plate back on later much easier.

After you remove the back plate, all of the internals of the watch are easily removedfrom the casing once you also remove the stem that one normally uses to wind andset the watch. All watches have a tiny dimple somewhere on the back of themechanism, that when depressed with a pointy object (like your steak knife or someother tiny probe) will release the winding stem and allow you to easily pull it out ofthe watch guts.

The dimple will be somewhere on the back of the mechanism that is relatively closeto where the stem enters the mechanism. If in doubt, just keep poking at anythingthat looks like it might release the stem while pulling gently on the stem from theoutside, until it releases. TIP: It helps to find the dimple by pushing the stem inand out between time set mode and regular mode. As you do this look for any parts

in the mechanism that wiggle. This will provide a clue to the dimples location.

After you removed the hands earlier in STEP 3, you might have noticed there asharp stem poking out from the center of the face plate to which the hands werepreviously affixed. If it is exceptionally long, you might try to shorten it or break itoff with needle-nose pliers before moving on, but this is rarely necessary.

In most cases, you can just place the new face on top of the old, and the center pincan help stabilize the new label while you put the watch back together. TIP: Ifyou want to be sure that the new face doesnt rotate clockwise or counter-clockwiseas the watch is worn, you might optionally affix it with a small piece of double-sticktape, or of few small dabs of rubber cement.

IMPORTANT: Make sure the word, NOW is right side up on the old face. In otherwords, notice the 12 oclock position relative to the word, NOW.

!"#$ X ' (#-!!#)02# "/# ,-"./Reversing the order in which you took it apart, reassemble the watch with its new face. You willnot need to push on the dimple to re-insert thewinding stem. It should just lock into place

Snap the back plate with your fingers, beingcareful not to shatter the front crystal. If there is anotch in the edge of the back plate toaccommodate the winding stem, be sure to orientthe back plate accordingly.
