How to memorize Total’s 12 Golden Rules? Rule number one is High Risk Situations. Hold up an index finger on one hand, then point to your head, it means you should stop and think before you work, to assess and manage the risks in every situation. Rule number two is Traffic. Hold up 2 fingers on one hand, then turn them down and move them like legs walking, which also means traffic! Rule number three is Body Mechanics and Tools. Hold up 3 fingers on one hand, then lift both arms up to 90 degrees and along with your head, they make a number 3, which also means body mechanics. Rule number six is Lifting. Hold up your index finger on one hand and 5 fingers on the other. The index finger is as a load which is lifted by the 5 fingers on the hand, they represent a crane liftings a load. Rule number four is Protective Equipment. Hold up a thumb and index finger on both hands, then make two a circles with them and place in front of your eyes to represent safety goggles, part of your PPE. Rule number five is Work Permits. How to memorize Total’s 12 Golden Rules?

Rule number one is High Risk Situations.

Hold up an index finger on one hand, then point to your head, it means you should stop and think before you work, to assess and manage the risks in every situation.

Rule number two is Traffic.

Hold up 2 fingers on one hand, then turn them down and move them like legs walking, which also means traffic!

Rule number seven is Work on Powered Systems.

Hold up 2 fingers on your right hands and shape it like a drill, to represent a power tool (drill, grind, impact wrench), 5 fingers of your left hand transforms into a surface to be drilled.

Rule number eight is Confined Spaces.

Hold up 4 fingers on both hands, put them close together and shape them to look like a bowl, which represents a confined space.

Rule number ten is Work at Height.

Hold up 10 fingers and use hand gestures to replicate climbing a ladder, this represent Work at Height.

Rule number twelve is Simultaneous Operations or Co-activities.

Hold up 1 finger on the right hand and 2 on the left hand. Lock 1 finger inside the other 2 on the left. It symbolizes 2 operations in 1 location or Simultaneous Operations.

Rule number eleven is Change Management.

Hold up an index finger on both hands, then align them in opposite directions and rotate them simultaneously, they look like the icon of golden rules number 11, change management.

Rule number nine is Excavation Works.

Hold up 9 fingers. Lay one hand flat to represent soil or land and position your 4 fingers of the other hand down onto it and move them like an excavator digging the land, this represents excavation works.
