HOW TO SCORE There are two ways to score a game: FRIENDLY & COMPETITIVE. Choose one. Use your own score sheet to record your points. After everyone reveals & scores, the round ends! 1) FRIENDLY SCORING: After YOU reveal the pages of sketches & written guesses in your own book: Give 1 POINT to the player with most creative sketch or written guess in your book. Give 1 POINT to the player with most hilarious sketch or written guess in your book. Give yourself 1 POINT if final written guess matches the STARTING WORD in your book. 2) COMPETITIVE SCORING: As each player reveals the sketch & guess pages in their own book, everyone can score points for their ability to communicate through pictures & words. Here's how: A) Score 1 POINT if your written guess matches the STARTING WORD. B) Score 1 POINT if your written guess matches the previous guess. (Your guess does not necessarily have to match the STARTING WORD, just the previous guess.) C) Score 1 POINT if your sketch helped the next player match the previous guess. D) Score 1 POINT if final written guess matches the STARTING WORD in your own book. See page 7 Example. MATCHING HINT! Agree as a group on how close a guess needs to be to match the STARTING WORD (or a previous guess – see below). For example, do you think "Seagull" is an acceptable match for "Seagulls?" IDEA! For your first game, try FRIENDLY SCORING for instant laughter! 6 Telestrations Rules Newest2.indd1 1 6/5/09 7:31:16 AM

GAME SuMMARy

All players pick a STArTinG WOrd. Then in their sketch book, they draw what they read, pass to the next player; they guess what they see, pass... and so on until everyone's sketch book passes to every player & returns back to its owner. Then everyone's sketches & guesses are revealed & scored! Play ends after 3 rounds.

Just like the game of "telephone" or "operator," the outcomes are often hilarious & unpredictable. The more players, the more you'll laugh!

OBJECTTo laugh, have fun... and see if the final written guess matches the STArTinG WOrd!

"Swiss Cheese?"

For Odd number (5 or 7): Write your STArTinG WOrd on your score sheet page, flip to page 1 & pass to player on the left. That player flips back to see the STArTinG WOrd, then flips forward to page 1 to start the round. (The next player will sketch your STArTinG WOrd.)

One at a time, each player reveals their STArTinG WOrd & holds up their book for all players to see. The owner then flips through their book to show and share the sketching & guessing outcomes. As the pages are revealed, everyone has a chance to score points! See pages 6 -7 HOW TO SCORE.
