List all the things that distract you from studying?
What are your goals? List these.
How will you achieve your goals?
Stop making EXCUSES.
You cannot blame your teachers, your parents, your upbringing, your friends or any other factor for YOUR VCE results.
If you have goal then you control it. No one else can do the study for you.
Stop PROCRASTINATION Are you one of the 74% of students that
consistently procrastinates during study? One of the 79% of students who are
constantly distracted whilst studying. ? One of the 60% that haven’t yet made a
study and homework schedule? If you don’t change your behaviour…how
can you expect to get the results you want?
Do you have POOR TIME MANAGEMENT? We all have the same 1440 minutes
every single day but the reason that we all have very different lives is because of the choices we make as to how we will spend that time.
What choices are you making now? Will you achieve your goals and have
MORE choices?
Are you easily DISRACTED?
Are you serious about your VCE studies?
If you are then surround yourself with motivations
Are you LAZY?
Laziness Is NEVER Rewarded In Life.
At the end of this VCE will you be able to look yourself in the eye and honestly say that you did the best job that you could do?
Are you going to be POORLY PREPARED?
Would you attend a match / game without having trained?
So how can you prepare better for the rest of this year and achieve your goals?
List all the methods you use to study.
Do you? Read over your notes or text book? Write summary notes? Do practice answers? Revise all key areas of study after each
lesson? Do practice exam questions? Make up definition and key terms cards?
1. Make a study timetable and stick to it. 2. Revise on a daily basis. 3. Complete summary notes. 4. Practice Practice involves doing questions, past
exam papers, and any other tasks and activities that are set by the teacher.
Do nothing and hope for the best. Not complete homework Only read over notes and text book and
expect to do well. Not study
Homework is work that has to be done. It is the things that the teacher asks you
to do so that you can just pass and maybe maintain a S.
Study is the EXTRA work that needs to be done to achieve better results.
Are you doing both?
List all the things that you do to prepare for an exam or SAC?
What you should do? 1. complete summaries of the topics 2. complete practice answers to
questions 3. revise work 4. do past exam questions
Make sure that you are fully informed – read and make sure you understand the assessment criteria and study design.
List the areas that you have concerns about and seek help- don’t leave it to the last minute.
Pre read text books and novels etc. Keep your notes and workbooks in order- be
organised. Construct mind maps to help you remember
and think about the topic.
Talk over your work with others Teach someone else- the best way to
learn is the teach Think, think, think
