Summary This document contains the steps required for upgrading MDM Business Packages on Portal Server with screenshots. It also provides different steps for logging into Portal JSPM and how to deploy the MDM business package.

How to Upgrade MDM Business Package on SAP Portal
Introduction This Whitepaper contains the steps required for upgrading MDM Business Packages on Portal Server/ Web AS JAVA. The post also gives you different steps for logging into Portal JSPM and steps to deploy the MDM business package.
Prerequisite MDM server 5.5 SP6
EP 7.0 with MDM BP deployed (BPMDMAPPLI06_3.sca, BPMDMTECHN06_3.sca, MDMJAVAAPI06_3.sca, and MDMWEBUI06_3.sca)
It is suggested that, In case of applying new MDM HotFix/Support Packages make sure that you backup your Portal Content and Portal Applications.
• Taking backup for Portal Content: - Create Transport Package (.epa File) and copy all the Customized Portal Content in it.
• Taking backup for Portal Application: - Take the backup of deployed applications .ear and .par files
Methodology The upgrading process can be completed in the following steps:-
Step 1 – Download MDM Business Package
Download MDM 5.5 from SAP Service Marketplace and unpack the file.
The folders MDM_JAVA_API, BP_MDM_TECHNOLOGY_5.5, and BP_MDM_APPLICATION_5.5 contain the sca files required for business package installation.
In case of fresh installation directly start from Step 4.
Step 2 – Undeployment of MDM Components using SDM
Using the Software Deployment Manager (SDM), undeploy the following MDM components, if they are contained in the Undeployment folder:
- com.sap.pct.mdm.appl.packages.mdm_550
- com.sap.pct.mdm.tech.packages.mdm_550
- com.sap.pct.mdm.tech.systems
- com.sap.pct.mdm.tech.wizards
- com.sap.pct.mdm.appl.masteriviews
- com.sap.mdm.tech.connector
- com.sap.mdm.tech.mdm4j
- com.sap.mdm.uwl
- com.sap.mdm.uwl.config

Click On Start Undeployment.

Step 3 – Removing Portal Archives related to MDM
Logon to the Portal as a system administrator and choose System Administration Support Portal Run time Administration Console Archive Remover
Remove the following archives, if they are already there:
- com.sap.pct.mdm.appl.masteriviews
- com.sap.pct.mdm.tech.wizards
- com.sap.pct.mdm.tech.sytems
- com.sap.mdm.uwl

Step 4 – Deployment of Business Package using JSPM
Copy the three sca files in the folder of Portal Server - /usr/sap/trans/<SID>/in
Using the JSPM import the following files at once:
a. MDMJAVAAPI06*_*.sca
b. BPMDMTECHN06*_*.sca
c. BPMDMAPPLI06*_*.sca
Login remotely to the Portal Server as <SID>adm

Step 5 – Portal Restart
After deployment, restart J2EE/Portal using SAP Management Console.
Step 6 – Refresh the Services
In Portal, choose System Administration Support Portal Runtime Application Console
and refresh the services of application com.sap.mdm.uwl.
Now all the above software components are activated in the portal and their detailed version
information is displayed in J2EE system information.

Step 7 – Checking the MDM Business Package on Portal.
Log onto the portal as a content administrator and navigate to Content Administration
Portal Content Content Provided by SAP-->Specialist.
The MDM Application subfolder contains the iViews, pages, and so on, listed in this business package documentation. The MDM Technology subfolder contains the system template. Refresh the Portal Content folder to make sure that the imported iView and system templates are activated and cached. Otherwise empty pages are displayed or you cannot create system objects.
