What does an informative essay show?•To provide new information to its readers , an informative essay might include the latest research on the topic. •Defining a complex term, analyzing a cause-effect re lationship.•Comparing and contrasting opposing views.
Tips on writ ing assignmentsTo improve quality
You may already be familiar with most of these points but it will be good to remind yourself.
1. Outl ine
Outline: which includes the main points you will be discussing. This will i) Save you time. ii) Help you organize your ideas. iii) Enable you conduct efficient literature searches.iv) Help you divide up your word count between different sections.

Introduction
2. Introduction
It is really important to start your assignment with a clear introduction that should include:
A brief background mentioning what the assignment will discuss.
The aim/purpose of writing this assignment . A few lines to indicate how the assignment is
structured/ organized.
These would usually be included in 1-2 paragraphs.
3. Use of ‘I’ and ‘you’
Academic writing is impersonal so avoid using ‘I’ or ‘you’ in your
assignment.
Bullets and numbering
4. Bullets and numbering: Paragraphs are preferred to bullets and numbering in academic writing and this will allow you to discuss each point further.
5.Use of examples: It is vital that your assignments reflect that you have a clear understanding.
Tables & Figures
6. Inclusion of tables and figures
Tables and figures can very effectively convey information to the reader without affecting your word count. Also, clearly signpost the reader to each table/ figure from the appropriate part of the main assignment. Include clear headings for each table/ figure and clearly mention the source both with the figure/table and in the bibliography.
Word CountEnsure that the word count of your assignments are not far below or far above the suggested word count

Conclusion
•This is your final chance to impress تأثير the reader so make it powerful. Most conclusions include three main parts :i) Stating the aim/ context of the assignment again. ii) Followed by a very brief summary of the main points. iii) Final comments often considering the future (for eg: what can be done to improve the implementation of an intervention in the future).

Referencing
When you write your assignment you are required to refer to the work of other authors.
Each time you do so, it is necessary to identify their work by making reference to it your written work.
This practice of acknowledging authors is known as ‘referencing’.
When ?
References must be provided whenever you use someone else’s opinions, theories, data or organization of material.
You need to reference information from books, articles, videos, web sites, images, computers and any other print or electronic sources.
A reference is required if you use : * Paraphrase عادة صياغة النصإ (use someone else’s ideas in your own words)
* Summary (use a brief account of someone else’s ideas)
* Quoteاقتبس (use someone else’s exact words)
* Copy (use someone else’s figures, tables or structure)
References enhance your writing and assist your reader by: • Showing the breadthاتساع of your research. • Strengthening your academic argumentحجه . • Showing the reader the source of your information. • Allowing the reader to consult your. sources independently. • Allowing the reader to verify تحقق منyour data.
•Always remember to :use referencing
because if you use someone else’s work and don’t reference it correctly, it is plagiarism ةسرقة أدبي , which is a serious offence جريمة of academic misconduct سوء السلوك .
