CHICAGO -- Former UIC men's basketball coach Howard Moore has a new gig as a basketball studioanalyst at the Big Ten Network.

Moore, who grew up near UIC's campus and starred at Taft High School, was 49-111 in five years asthe Flames' head coach. His tenure with the Flames ended after this past season with three yearsleft on his contract.

"Very excited to get back to my roots," Moore, who played and coached at Wisconsin, told DNAinfo.

"Even when I was at UIC, I watched from a distance and tried to keep up with the Big Ten. With theexpansion of the Big Ten over the past few years, it's more exciting."

Moore said he wasn't sure he was going to return to coaching after he was let go by UIC.

"I had three years left on my contract, and obviously that wasn't given to me," Moore said. "The nextthing I did was to take time with my family and see what would happen. I just took time to sit backand take my time and pray, and see what God had next for me. I didn't have an agenda because Ididn't really know."

Moore was 17-67 in Horizon League play with the Flames. His team finished this past season, whichended with a Horizon League tournament semifinal loss to Wisconsin Green Bay, at 10-24.
