Hello,

as promised in my thread: http://fabrikar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=11893 I want now to show to all of

Fabrik users how to prepare some cascading dropdown fields on a single table in a submission form - working

only on the demo site.

We are using the SVN 2158 and the Nightlybuild: com_fabrik_2.0rc3_17-08-2009.zip on a Joomla 1.5.13

installation.

The example here is about the inserting of: Country, Region and City in a submission form:

1) create a Fabrik table pointing to your country_region_city table;

2) edit the form created by Fabrik for that table as follow. For the elements: country, region, town edit them as

follow:

Country as databasejoin with the country_region_city table setted in it and its related connection, set the key and

label option to country as in the attached image;

Region as cascadingdropdown element setted as follow: same connection, in the table field select the Fabrik table

(related to the country_region_city table); ID and Label fields setted to region as in the attached file and in the

watch element section set the watch element and the foreign key to Country as in the attached image;

Town as cascadingdropdown element setted as follow: same connection, in the table field select the Fabrik table

(related to the country_region_city table); ID and Label fields setted to town as in the attached image and in the

watch element section set the watch element and the foreign key to Region as in the attached image.

Bye the way, this element for the moment works only if the table use the same connection of the Joomla site

database. It does not work in another DB connection!!

I hope of having been useful for all of the Fabrik users.

And what happened when a region is equal in two countries and the second cascading show us the two cities?.

Do you understand friends?

to other examples, for example in a school you have got:

1-type of studies

2-level

3-name of the assignatures

the second cascading will show all the names of the same level but of all types of studies.

How can I do that?, thanks

I cannot unde rstand

Let us take an easier situation to make it clear to me and maybe to others.

At least I am not able to do that.

Consider that I have "Region" drop down element which has 5 items " a, b, c, d, e".

Clicking on one of the previous items in the dropdown, should create an automatic new element - another drop

down element - lets call it "City", and which will include another items according to selecting a or b or ...

Can any one tell me step by step how to do that please?? Clearly
