HP Device-as-a-Service (DaaS): changing the way you provide, manage and support end user computing devices

HP DaaS provides you with your choice of hardware, analytics and (optionally) proactive management, plus break-fix maintenance for an attractive, fixed monthly cost.

When can my DaaS service start? Typically, a new agreement can be set up within a week or two. Once that’s done, your DaaS service can commence at a date of your choice (subject to product availability).

Can the DaaS service be scaled down? You can build an option into your agreement to reduce device quantities by 5-15% after the first year.

Is it possible to cancel the service? HP DaaS is provided through a financial agreement and so allows for cancellation during the first 15 days (from receipt of equipment). As with other financial agreements, your business is then responsible for all the monthly payments from this point onwards.

What happens at the end of the DaaS term? You’ll be notified 90 days before the end of your DaaS service, so you’ve time to start thinking about a new service. At the end of the service period equipment is returned to HP where hard drives are erased of any remaining information.

What happens if hardware is damaged during the subscription?HP assume fair wear and tear and seem to be quite pragmatic about offsetting instances of heavy and light wear. In some cases, there may be an equipment repair fee.

What happens if DaaS hardware is lost or stolen? Customers are assumed to have existing policies and procedures to cover the loss or theft of hardware, so the cost of insurance has not been built into the price of DaaS. If hardware is lost or stolen, customers remain responsible for the remaining monthly payments plus a balance payment to cover the non-return of the unit. However, HP does not currently check serial numbers so a substitute unit could be returned instead.

capacity and failure, unexpected OS crashes or abnormal

shutdowns and firewall or AV software being disabled. You

can also access hardware and software inventory, as well as

user information, for all managed devices.

Instead of responding to these alerts, you can optionally

enhance your DaaS service to have HP’s service experts

manage the corresponding resolution for you. This Enhanced

Service also provides proactive management of your mobile

device security policy, device locate, lock and wipe, Windows

patch management, remote user assistance and more. While

a Premium Service takes this even further, to include Windows

password recovery, application deployment, Wi-Fi provisioning

and application whitelisting/backlisting.

Your choice of hardware support In the event of a hardware failure you’ll receive a next business day, on-site response. But if that’s not enough for some, or all of your users, this can be enhanced to include worldwide cover and/or retention of defective media.

Your choice of term DaaS can be provided on a one, two, three, four or five years’ term, combining together the device, support and analytics and proactive management into a fixed monthly cost per device. This can be extended to also include software, imaging, asset tagging, deploy-to-desk and even user support.

You won’t need to worry about disposal and recycling anymore: the devices residual values have already been accounted for and when, at the end of the term, you return them to HP, the hard drive is securely erased.
