Reporting and Supervisory Responsibilities The Technical Coordinator I typically reports to a Program Coordinator or Assistant Director. This classification may train and guide hourly and/or student employees. Typical Functions 1. Coordinates production of sound, lighting, TV, data, telephone, special electrical needs, and other Audio/Visual needs. 2. Maintains, repairs, replaces, upgrades and/or troubleshoots audio/visual, sound and lighting systems. 3. Maintains inventory of all hardware; keeps maintenance records. 4. Coordinates event support, which includes, but is not limited to venue room setups, ensuring safety of patrons, enforcing policies and procedures, and communicating with the public. 5. Schedules equipment and personnel according to the needs of the event. 6. Operates technical equipment throughout class and/or event. 7. Creates and maintains records and creates reports as requested. 8. May perform office duties including checking the mailbox, maintaining files, producing and preparing daily logs, and other duties as assigned. 9. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. 1

Summary

Incumbents in the Technical Coordinator series provide audiovisual guidance, advisement, and technical and logistical support for events, meetings, classes, and seminars held in the assigned department or building.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate degree or an equivalent combination of education plus experience is required.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

Employees work indoors and are protected from weather and/or contaminants, but not, necessarily, occasional temperature changes. Employees are frequently required to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, use hands and fingers, and reach with hands and arms. Employees must be able to lift and move up to 30 pounds and retrieve and transport audiovisual equipment.
