HS Announcements: Wednesday, Sept. 5 th High School 1. Are you interested in running for class officer? Sign-up sheets are in the office. If you are interested in running, you must sign up by this Friday. President and Vice President run as a team. Please sign-up. Very few candidates have so far. 2. All vehicles must have a parking pass beginning today – even those parked in the gravel. If you still need a parking pass, see Mrs. Neer by the end of the day. 3. Want more information about the Army National Guard? Please talk to Callie Woodruff or Max Bailey. 4. Attention Juniors & Seniors. The following institutions and military branches will have representatives here to meet with you during homeroom time: 9/6- WYO Tech 9/18 – Urbana University 9/11- Ohio Christian University 9/19- Cleveland Institute of Art 9/13- Army, Army Reserves, Special Ops 9/20- Shawnee State 9/14 – University of Findlay 9/24 – Bowling Green State University 9/17 – Army National Guard 9/25 – Cedarville University Please stop by guidance to sign up or if you have any questions. 5. The final opportunity for auditions for the WLS Dramatics Society Fall production of “Archie and the Wallflower” will be Thursday, Sept. 6 th at 6:30. If you need your audition sheet and script pages, see Kailey Kopus. 6. Homecoming is Three Weeks Away. If you plan to bring a guest to the Homecoming dance (meaning someone who is not currently a student at WLS high school) you need to get a guest form from Mrs. Neer in the office. Athletics 1. 7 th grade volleyball improved to 3-0 by defeating Greenview. Jonni Parker had 16 points with 14 aces. Abby Dillon, Ally Yoder and Cassie Luthman each added 3 points. 2. 8 th grade volleyball defeated Greenview and improved to 2-1. Gabby Spencer had 11 points with 2 aces. Olivia Ames had 10 points, 4 aces and Kelby Strapp had 6 points, 2 aces. 3. Varsity girls soccer team defeated Southeastern 9-0 last night. Goals for WLS were Melany Ward with 3, Shonda Gieseke with 2 and Alandra Cox, Annika Wolfe, Abigail Rabenstein, and Catherine Williams with 1 each. Assists were by Lindsey Hostetler, Annika Wolfe, Kelsi Dowden, Erin Barrett and Carissa Magnuson. April Kelly and Lauren Godwin each had a save in goal. Team is now 2-1-2 and 2-0-1 in OHC. 4. Varsity Boys Soccer team defeated Southeastern 6-0. Goals were scored by Michael McIntosh, Grant Burden, Tyler LeVan, Cole McDaniel. Ricky Lowe, Felix Oehring. Assists were Cole McDaniel with 2, Cody Taylor and Garrett Conklin with 1 each. Sam Warye had 2 saves in goal. 5. JV Volleyball team lost to southeastern last night 25-11 and 25-17. 6. Varsity Volleyball team lost to southeastern in 4 games last night. Jamie Peterson had 16 kills, 5 blocks, 6 digs. Kylee Hormann had 10 kills, Autumn Klinger had 17 assists and 10 digs. 7. Varsity Golf team defeated Cedarville at Liberty Hills by a score of 169-216. Top four scores for WLS were Jacob Rutan-37, Nick Sims-39, Ethan McBean-44 and Casey Gay-49. WLS is now 6-2 in the OHC. 8. Varsity Football team defeated Benjamin Logan 48-16 Friday night to improve to 2-0 on the year.
