HSDPA HSDPA basicsbasics and and configurationconfiguration

High Speed Downlink Packet Access (=HSDPA) 3GPP rel. 5 feature; increased data rate up to 14.4 Mbit/s Introduction of a more efficient resource sharing than with

    R99 by High Speed-Downlink Shared Channel (HS-DSCH)

Fast Transmission and Retransmission Scheduling for thenew HS-DSCH terminated in NodeB (every 2ms)

Link Adaptation (Adaptive Modulation and Coding) Hybrid Automatic Repeat reQuest (HARQ) Modulation Types: QPSK and 16-QAM no fast Power Control and no variable Spreading Factor

To activate HSDPA in an HSDPA supporting RNC the following object has to becreated in the RNC database:object hsrrm has to be created per UE category that shall be supported

Starting with HSDPA only UE class 12 will be available first but in RNC databaseclass 6 and 11 will also already been configured.

Using D2-CDD this object will be configured automatically by OTS if all HSDPA parameters ending with _12, _6 and _11 will be transmitted.
