    Activesync Synchronization

    Microsot ActiveSync acts as the gateway between your Windows powered PC and your Windows Mobile

    powered device, enabling the transer o Outlook inormation, Oce documents, pictures, music, videos andapplications rom your desktop to your device. In addition to synchronizing with a desktop PC, ActiveSync can

    synchronize directly with Microsot Exchange Server 2003 so that you can keep your e-mail, calendar, notes, and

    contacts updated wirelessly when youre away rom your PC.

    *ActiveSync to your PC will not work through Wi-Fi. You can still access Exchange Server e-mail through Wi-Fi.

    1. Install the latest version o ActiveSync (version 4.2 or higher)

    by inserting the supplied Getting Started CD.

    2. Upon completion o installation, ActiveSync will open with the

    Get Connected page.

    3. Ensure that the device is on and connected to your PC with the

    USB cable.

    4. Click Next ater the device has been connected to your PC.

    5. Once the device is connected to the computer, the Found New

    Hardware Wizard should recognize the device as a Generic RNDIS

    and then a Windows Mobile Based Device.6. Once the computer has recognized the device, ActiveSync

    will open and attempt to detect the device.

    7. Once ActiveSync detects your device, the Synchronization

    Setup Wizard will automatically run; click Next.

    8. Select the Outlook inormation you wish to synchronize (yourselections can also be changed in the uture); click Next.

    9. Press Finish to save your settings and close the wizard.

    10. ActiveSync will start the synchronization process with your

    device and display progress.11. When synchronization completes, ActiveSync will show the Connected and Synchronized status.

    12. All o the Outlook inormation you selected will be synchronized between your device and PC.

    13. Schedule your sync times and amounts easily by clicking Menu > Schedule between your device and PC.

    USB Connectivity Some users have had diculty synching through USB.

    Things to check:

    Activate USB connection Ensure that USB is selected by navigating to Start > Programs > ActiveSync >

    Menu > Connections

    Switch USB port Switch to a dierent USB port and retry.

    Do not use USB hubs / docking stations Try using a USB port directly on the PC.

    Deactivate rewalls Turn o any sotware rewalls that may be running on your PC. USB-to-PC utility You can resolve USB connectivity issues through this utility. To activate, navigate to

    Start > Settings > Connections > USB to PC and uncheck Enable advanced network unctionality.

    Bluetooth Connectivity Some users have had diculty synching with Bluetooth.

    Things to check:

    Partnership Make sure there is an established partnership between your device and the PC.

    Device settings Make sure Bluetooth is turned on by navigating to Start > Programs > Comm Manager. Obstructions Remove any physical obstructions between the PC and device. Make sure your device

    is pointed to your PC.

    Disable rewall sotware.

    Disable VPN sotware.

    Reinstall latest version o ActiveSync. Unplug your device rom the PC and reboot ater ActiveSync installation.

    Multimedia Tips and Tricks

    The HTC S621 eatures Windows Media Player to enrich your multimedia experience. Ater ollowing several easy

    steps, you can take your avourite music and video clips wherever you go. The ollowing are some useul tips tohelp you get started:

    1. To transer les between your device and PC, you must rst

    connect your device via USB and then open ActiveSync. Once your

    device is recognized by your PC, the ActiveSync window will

    indicate Connected.

    2. Press Explore and your devices My Documents older window

    will pop up. You can drag and drop your media les rom your PC

    to this older and subolders. I you would like to transer media to

    your microSD card, double click the My Windows Mobile-Based

    Device icon and access the Storage Card older.

    3. I you would like to move a le on your device to a dierent older,

    navigate to Start > Programs > File Explorer. Select the media le

    you would like to move and press Menu > Edit > Cut. Navigate to

    the desired destination older and press Menu > Edit > Paste.

    The media le will now be located in the new destination older.

    1. Open Windows Media Player by navigating to Start > Windows Media

    2. Your media library should be displayed. I not, navigate to the library by

    pressing Menu > Library In the media library, the ollowing categories

    will be available:

    *It is recommended that you store your music in

    the My Documents folder. By doing so, your music

    will automatically be available for selection as

    a ring tune.

    3. To update your library with all the currently available media on your device, press Menu > Update Library

    Upon completion, Windows Media will indicate the total number o media les on your device and storagecard. All your music and videos will be available in My Music and My Videos, respectively.

    4. To access your music or video les, click on either My Music or My Videos. Navigate through the dierent

    categories or select All Music / All Video to see all available.

    E-mail Setup and Operation

    The HTC S621 allows you to access your e-mail virtually anywhere you go. Microsot Oce Outlook can act as a

    single repository or your multiple e-mail accounts and text messages. To ensure your e-mail is properly setup tosuit your needs, we oer a ew pointers to get you up and running.

    personal e-mail through outlooK (non-hotmail)

    Beore setting up your personal e-mail, you must have the ollowing inormation at hand:

    Your e-mail address, user name, password, account type (POP3 or IMAP4).

    Incoming mail server address, Outgoing mail server address, and domain name.

    Popular incoming mail server addresses:

    pop3.e-mail.msn.com (MSN).

    pop.gmail.com (Google Mail).

    pop.mail.yahoo.com (Yahoo! Mail Plus).

    I you are unsure o any o these items, please contact your e-mail provider.

    1. Go to Start > Messaging.

    2. Select Outlook E-mail and press Menu > Options > New Account.

    3. Enter your e-mail address (e.g. [email protected]) and press Next.

    4. Once Auto conguration has completed, press Next.

    5. Enter your display Name, User Name, and Password; press Next.

    6. Select POP3 or IMAP4 and name your e-mail account; press Next.

    7. Enter your Incoming (POP3 or IMAP4) and Outgoing (SMTP) mail

    servers and Domain name; press Options.

    8. Select the time intervals or downloading new messages;

    press Next.

    9. Limit the amount o messages that are downloaded and set the

    authentication method or outgoing mail; press Next.10. Select partial or ull message downloading; press Finish.

    hotmail

    I you would like to access your Hotmail account, you must ollow a

    slightly dierent path. There is a Pocket MSN utility that will automatically

    congure your device. To access this utility:

    1. Go to Start > Pocket MSN icon.

    2. Select MSN Hotmail.

    3. Enter your e-mail address and password; press Sign In.

    4. Once auto-conguration has completed, you will be directed toyour inbox.

    Whether or not your server requires an encrypted (SSL) connection.

    If you are unsure of any of these items, please contact your corporate IT

    2. Press Menu > Add Server Source

    3. Enter your corporate e-mail server address and select the SSL

    encryption option.

    4. Enter your User Name, Password, and Domain name; press the

    Advanced button.

    press Next.6. Check the items you wish to synchronize.

    7. Highlight E-mail and press Settings.

    8. Select your desired mail options; press OK.

    9. Press Finish and your device will begin synchronizing with the

    Exchange server.
