Field implementation – Successful Approach •  People

–  Survey team ownership, survey crew availability –  Field and home office engineering engagement –  Conceptualize 3D

•  Process –  Safety –  Phased approach on scanning projects –  Identification, measurement, validation and reporting of

potential benefits •  Systems

–  Right selection of hardware and software based on selected projects

–  Integration, workflow and work process alignment of scanning project

•  Leadership –  Documenting and communicating ROI –  Promoting, Educating and training –  Building a community

Field Example – Modularization

Scan of vessel before shipping to identify any alignment issues with base foundation and center of bolt holes. Corrections can be made before shipping there by reducing risk and schedule delays

Page 9: Document

Field Example – Reduce Risk / Cost and schedule savings

Scan of rebar before concrete pour. All rebar and plates can be accurately located in the scan and referenced in the field post concrete pour. This reduces chances of intercepting steel during penetrations and other installations

Page 10: Document

Field Example – Reduce Risk / Constructability

Measure dimensions after construction and compare with engineering designs to validate anomalies. Multiple measurements and analysis can be done from a single scan and is available for future use.

Field Example – Reduce Risk / Constructability

Measure dimensions after construction and compare with design to validate anomalies. Measurements are also compared against fabricated units for constructability before shipping

Field Example - Precondition survey and documenting

Scanning asset condition before construction in high risk areas reduces risk and provides documentation on pre existing conditions.
