Getting Around

• Helsinki is very pedestrian friendly

• City also has extensive public transportation

• Has a bicycle pathway throughout mot of the city

• Has a railway system that connects Finland to other European countries including Russia

• Helsinki's major airport is located 20km north of they city center and has buses that can take you there

• Port of Helsinki also offers passengers trips to German, Sweden and Estonia among others

• Water is safe to drink throughout the country

• Weather temperatures vary by season from below 32°F in winter to over 86° F in summer.

• You will need a Visa permit

• Check with your health care provider for any vaccinations you might need.

• If driving, you must have headlights on!

• There are no public payphones

What to Pack

• Bring warm, rain-proof, wind-proof outdoor clothing and lighter clothing for warmer months

• Bring at least one pair of comfortable walking shoes

• Rain repellant shoes for the winter months

• Don’t forget your Health Insurance Card!

ISEP Study

• Deadline:• Fall Semester or Full Year – February 1st

• Spring Semester – September 1st

• Minimum GPA of 2.75

• Completed at least one academic year of university coursework

• Complete ISEP application as well as University of Helsinki application

• A program fee determined by and paid to your home institution

• A placement fee charged by ISEP
