Andy Thomas (self portrait)

Andy Thomas is an immensely talented painter, who is also a renowned storytellerwith the images he creates. From historical events to intimate moments of everyday life, the artist’s creativity is a never-ending journey of painting realism that ranges from very

loose to very tight. As an avid observer of people and life around him, the artist hasdeveloped a keen eye for capturing moments in time that relay emotion, action, and all the elements that allow the viewer to be a part of the scene. Thomas’s medium is primarily oil,

but he also works in watercolor, pen and ink, charcoal, pencil, and ink wash.

Many of Thomas’s original works are in numerous, private and corporate collections and also in the permanent collections of museums around the country. As an historical artist,

Thomas has few peers. He is considered one of today’s finest painters of people and events from centuries ago to the modern age. The drama, action, and human element in each

painting allow the artist’s images to bring to life scenes that appeal to art collectors andadmirers representing a cross-section of America. Thomas’s style has been compared to

the esteemed works of Russell and Remington, and the artist says he also has beeninfluenced by Howard Pyle, Richard Schmid, Norman Rockwell, and others.

Thomas is a member of the famed Salmagundi Club in New York, The Portrait Societyof America, and other art organizations. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from

Missouri Southern State University. Thomas and his wife, Dina, live inCarthage, Missouri. They have six children.
