Indo-European population and African population – Hannibal reached Italy through the Alps. Alps – created a way of a melting pot because it was easy to go through
Constantine – had a sign from god on the battle field of a cross. Truth: Constantine Christianity being followed by many ppl and important figures becoming Christian and he realized he needed those people.

South roots are attached to North Africa and Middle East
Augustus as 1st emperor. Rome was 1st monarchy

Many poets/politicians were from outside. No single ethnic group
Rome was a political administrative entity.
Sochi – Rome had many allies, many loyal to Romans (strong army) for peace
Rome was always seen as most important city state and well respected.
Sochi War – people were not happy with Rome growing exponentially
Groups of different population in Peninsula. Granted citizenship and embodied in Roman Republic
City states – Rome main type. All other entities and city states needed Rome to be safe and Rome needed them to find on its side against, for ex, Hannibal
Middle Ages – describe life in middle ages – no detail Pope – money to artist to embellish the city
