What is Human Nutrition? Nutrition is the science of food: its nutritional components and how they function within cells. Our programmes focus on the impact of nutrition on health and disease from the cell and molecular level, through to people and populations. Understanding how nutrition influences health and disease is achieved through the interdisciplinary study of physiology, biochemistry, molecular biology, and microbiology. 3 year programme with an optional placement year Professional work placement opportunities in major food companies like Mars, Nestle, Nutricia, Bakkavor, Marks and Spencers and Tesco Final year research project with opportunities to work with world-leading researchers Attend a national conference where you'll hear from global experts in nutrition Emma Priestly MSc Student in Dietetics Kings College London Studying Nutrition at Newcastle gave me the scientific knowledge base that helped me secure a place to study Dietetics at King's College. I'm currently applying my nutrition knowledge on placement at King's College Hospital seeing a huge variety of patients from those with liver disease to those with cancer. I couldn't recommend Newcastle University more and I absolutely loved my time up north! Our programme... The nutrition and food programmes include a year-long optional work placement to boost your awareness of the food industry and employability skills. Personalised Nutrition: Food 4Me project Prof John Mathers Researchers at Newcastle are interested in how our genetic make up influences our response to diet. The personalised nutrition approach is based on the idea that by individualising advice and support, each of us can, and will be motivated to, make the dietary changes necessary for our individual needs.
