HUNTERDON COUNTY ARBORETUM

The Administrative Offices for the Hunterdon County Division of Parks and Recreation are located at the Hunterdon County Arboretum. The use of activity centers and meeting rooms shall be reserved for

purposes related to parks, recreation, and conservation purposes only. Indoor restrooms are available only during office hours. Port-a-john in

parking lot. Parking is provided in the lots on either side of the building for 50 vehicles. It is the policy of the Hunterdon County Division of Parks & Recreation to

provide reasonable accommodations for persons with disabilities upon advance notice of need.

Outdoor water is available seasonally April 1 through November 1. Groups of 15 or more are required to obtain a courtesy permit to use a park. Bow hunting season is September to February (no hunting allowed at the

Arboretum on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays) To contact a Ranger during weekends or evenings, please call the Ranger

cell: (908) 507-5236. Dial 9-1-1 for emergencies. Costs are subject to change at the discretion of the Division of Parks &

Recreation.

NOTES ON ALL RENTALS:

OTHER PARK AREAS AND SERVICES (Permit Required): Charges will be based upon facility and staff requirements on an individual basis.

NON-PROFIT AND AFFILIATED GROUPS: Non-profit groups only pay 75% of cost for any park area Monday through Friday. (Full cost on weekends and for all use of camping areas.) Affiliated groups only pay 15% of cost for any park area Monday through Friday. (Full cost on weekends and for all use of camping areas.) For non-profits, 501(c)(3) proof is required with application.

Facility reservation fees are non-refundable.

WEATHER CANCELLATION POLICY: Reservation fees may be credited toward another available date, if notice of a weather-related cancellation is provided to the park office, by calling (908) 782-1158, PRIOR to the event start time, on the scheduled reservation date. Re-booking can only be accommodated on a one-time basis.

WEDDINGS AND PHOTO SESSIONS (Permit Required): The gazebo, terrace, and gardens are popular for wedding ceremonies.

Decorations are permitted, but must be removed immediately following the ceremony. Rice, seed, or confetti, and the release of balloons, birds, or butterflies are prohibited.

Wedding size of 100 people or less. May be reserved for photography sessions. No tents or alcohol are permitted. GAZEBO, TERRACE, AND GARDENS (Permit Required): Capacity: 100 people in vicinity, 5 in gazebo Amenities: Electricity. Vehicles: Parking is limited to the lots at the Administration Building (50

cars). Note: Indoor restrooms can be made available upon request for

additional fee. Cost: In-County: $30.00/1 hour Non-County: $60.00/1 hour Additional fee of $40.00 per hour after posted Park seasonal hours for Ranger. Court Street Park is located behind the Hunterdon County Hall of Records. The use of the Gazebo/Bandstand shall be reserved for purposes

related to parks, recreation, and conservation purposes only. No restrooms available. Tents or alcohol are allowed with a permit. Parking is located on Park Avenue & Court Street (on street parking

only). It is the policy of the Hunterdon County Division of Parks &

The use of the park, gazebos, and pavilions shall be reserved for purposes related to parks, recreation, and conservation only.

Parking is permitted in designated areas only. Picnic tables may be rearranged within the pavilions but must be

returned to their original setting. Alcohol is permitted at Cedars Pavilion only. A special permit is

required. While your permit entitles you to exclusive use of your reserved

facility, please remember that Deer Path Park is open to the public, and facilities such as the trails, restrooms, and open play areas are for the enjoyment of everyone.

ECHO HILL PARK

The use of the park, lodge, and tent area shall be reserved for purposes related to parks, recreation, and conservation purposes only.

Echo Hill is the County’s nature education area and is frequently used by school and scout groups for environmental studies.

Parking is permitted only in designated areas. There are 58 vehicle spaces in the main lot and 2 handicap spaces by the lodge.

It is the policy of the Hunterdon County Division of Parks & Recreation to provide reasonable accommodations for persons with disabilities upon advance notice of need.

CAMPING RULES: The use of the park shall be reserved for purposes related to parks,

recreation, and conservation only. The Visitor Center is now a private residence. Please do not disturb. Overnight vehicles are restricted to approved parking areas. Camping is by reservation (w/receipt of fee), and in designated campsites

only. Wood is provided. Report injuries to Park Ranger cell phone (page 2) or park employee

immediately. Remove all garbage from campsite to park dumpster, located in the Main

Parking Lot, or take it with you when you leave. Alcohol, firearms, fireworks, loud music, and ATVs are prohibited. Swimming, boating, skating, & model boating on the park ponds is

prohibited. Campers are restricted to campsites during quiet time: 10:00 P.M. to 7:00

A.M. Please do not move campsite/park furnishings (tables, benches, bunk beds,

etc.) Do not mar or deface park buildings/equipment. Nails & hooks may not be

driven into buildings or trees. All Hunterdon County Parks Rules & Regulations will be enforced. Costs are subject to change at the discretion of the Division of Parks &

Recreation. SERVICES: Chemical toilets (por ta-potties) are near each public camping area and group camping area. As the water source is ½ to ¾ mile from campsites, we urge groups to bring FULL water containers. You may also fill them at the water spigot adjacent to the Stone House, next to the main parking lot (30 Pleasant Grove). We urge groups to please bring tinder & kindling to start camp and cooking fires, to save forest habitat. Cut firewood is provided in all campsites. Orienteering course: new in 2018. The course was created as an Eagle Scout Project. This mile-long course can be used by anyone. Brochure is available online or at the start and end of the course: by the camper parking lot and the stone house parking lot. Other activities: The trails can be used for hiking, mountain biking, cross-country skiing, and horseback riding. Hollow Brook Road provides access through the Teetertown Ravine, which traces the path of a natural trout production stream. A 4+ acre Activity Field is used for campfires, games, and flag ceremonies during camporees. Fishing is allowed on two ponds near the camping area. NJ State Fishing Licenses are required for those 16 years of age & over. The big pond is stocked with Rainbow Trout (trout stamp required), and catch & release rules apply for all other fish. A pond-side BBQ & picnic area is available on a non-reservable (first come-first served) basis.

SOUTH COUNTY PARK (FAIRGROUND SECTION)

Location: Route 1207 Route 179, Lambertville, NJ 08530

The use of the park, shall be reserved for purposes related to parks, recreation, and conservation only.

A letter of request, Facility Permit, payment, and a certificate of insurance is required to reserve the park.

No restrooms available. Alcohol, smoking, controlled substances, and weapons are NOT permitted. Parking is permitted in designated areas only (see map). It is the policy of the Hunterdon County Division of Parks & Recreation to

provide reasonable accommodations for persons with disabilities upon advance notice of need.

Dogs must be on a 6-foot leash and owners must remove any pet waste. No ground fires are allowed. The County is not liable for any loss or damage to personal property. To contact a Ranger during weekends or evenings, please call the Ranger

cell: (908) 507-5236. Dial 9-1-1 for emergencies. Costs are subject to change at the discretion of the Division of Parks &

Recreation. Security: $40/hr/Park Ranger Based on availability, security shall be provided by the County Park Rangers, who are vested with police authority and enforcement of park-related violations. In matters of large registered events, the applicant or sponsoring organization must provide a certificate of insurance and contact a private bonded security firm. Pre-approval must be met by the Hunterdon County Division of Parks & Recreation. Clean up and trash removal: The applicant or sponsoring organization should remove all trash by the completion of their event. Damage sustained to building and grounds shall be repaired by the County or Fair Committee at the expense of the applicant or sponsoring organization. Rental of dumpster and removal of trash can be arranged prior to an event for a fee, which is provided below. (Price is subject to change.) Location of dumpsters will be coordinated and approved by the Hunterdon County 4-H Agricultural Fair Committee. Removal Fee $150.00/ 6-yard dumpster Removal Fee $175.00/ 8-yard dumpster

All vendors must have Certificates of Insurance in the amount of 1 million dollars naming the Hunterdon Board of Chosen Freeholders & NJ DEP as additionally insured. Copies must be submitted one month prior to date of event. Community services are fee exempt and use a designated space on a first come first service basis. A. Commercial Vendors $100/day B. Location of sanitary units must be coordinated and approved by the Hunterdon County Division of Parks and Recreation. SUMMARY OF REGULATIONS FOR SOUTH COUNTY PARK (FAIRGROUNDS SECTION)

All organizations, participants, and spectators must comply with all laws, statutes, and regulations.

Smoking, alcoholic beverages, controlled substances, and weapons are NOT permitted on the Fairgrounds property.

All vendors must have certificates of insurance naming The Hunterdon County Board of Chosen Freeholders & the NJ DEP, PO Box 2900, Flemington, NJ 08822 as additionally insured for $1,000,000 (1 million dollars.)

It is the responsibility of the applicant or vendor to supply tents and canopies if needed. They must be made from fire retardant material that meets compliance with current and state fire and safety code requirements. Required inspections will be conducted by the County Fire Marshal.

No ground fires are permitted on the Fairgrounds property. Vehicles are NOT allowed in unauthorized areas. Parking is allowed in

designated areas only. Recreational vehicles are NOT allowed and are prohibited unless authorized by

the appointing authority. Parking must be designated and approved by the Hunterdon County Division of Parks & Recreation. Permits for overnight use ($25.00/night) must be filled out through the Hunterdon County Division of Parks & Recreation. Sites do not have electric hook-up or water. Discharging of any material is not allowed.

Recycling shall be enforced. Recycling containers will be provided. Trash shall be emptied before containers reach capacity.

It is the responsibility of the applicant or sponsoring organization to collect and deposit all trash into proper containers at the conclusion of their event.

The County of Hunterdon is NOT liable for loss or damage to personal property.

Dogs must be restrained on a 6-foot leash and owners must remove any pet waste. Dogs must be kept at a distance from other animals unless used for programming. Please follow guidelines recommended by the New Jersey State Veterinarians.

All animals on the Fairgrounds must have current health records with owners providing proof. Please follow guidelines for animal contact areas recommended by the New Jersey Division of Agriculture.

Full payment, Facility Permit, Protocol Letter, Application for Fire Safety Permit, and Certificate of Insurance must be received by the Hunterdon County Division of Parks & Recreation office upon approval of requested date.

The rules and regulations of the County shall be enforced by County Park Rangers who are vested with police authority and empowered to make arrests for park-related violations under the provision of N.J.S.A. 40: 32-2 thru 40: 32-7.13. Any person who enters a County Parks facility for any purpose whatsoever has a duty and is presumed to be aware of the provisions of these rules and regulations governing the use of the facilities and properties administered by the Hunterdon County Division of Parks & Recreation.

SUMMARY OF RULES AND REGULATIONS

The rules and regulations governing use of facilities or properties administered by the Hunterdon County Division of Parks and Recreation are promulgated in accordance with provisions of the N.J. Statutes Title 40:32-7.12, which reads as follows: “The Board of Chosen Freeholders may by resolution make, alter, amend, and repeal rules and regulations for the supervision, regulation, and control of all activities carried on, conducted, sponsored, arranged, or provided for in connection with a public golf course or other county recreational, playground, or public entertainment facility, and for the protection of property, and may prescribe and enforce fines and penalties for the violation of any such rule or regulation.”

These rules and regulations have been promulgated for the protection of our patrons and for the facilities and natural resources administered by the Hunterdon County Division of Parks and Recreation.

Permits: A wr itten permit issued by the Hunterdon County Division of Parks & Recreation for any activity shall authorize the activity only insofar as it may be performed in strict accordance with the terms and conditions thereof. The state, county, or local municipality may require other permits. Prohibited Acts: The violation of any Municipal, State, or Federal Law. Adver tising, ice skating, downhill skiing, bathing, fuel powered modeled aircraft, solicitation, the release of any animal, explosives of any kind, poisons of any kind, after hours use, the sale of merchandise, alcohol without a permit in a non-designated area, controlled dangerous substances, weapons, posting of signage, inappropriate attire, and climbing on, or rappelling from any cliff, rock face, or boulder, with or without the use of specialized equipment. Regulated Activity: Aviation, boating, cross-country skiing, bicycling, and sledding. Battery powered modeled aircraft and horses must be in a designated area, dogs must be restrained with a leash not exceeding six feet, pet waste must be removed, camping/fires are by permit only. All groups of 15 or more must obtain a permit for use of any park area. Prohibited Acts for the Protection of Property: No person shall make, excavate on, destroy, paint, fill in, cut, remove, or tamper with any property, organic or inorganic. Prohibited Acts for the Protection of Natural Resources: No person shall disturb wildlife or vegetation in any manner. No person shall pollute waters, litter, dump debris, or release helium balloons on any property. It is illegal to remove any natural resource without a proper permit or license. Prohibited Acts for the Protection of People: No person shall obstruct a county employee/official, interfere with a visitor, conduct any unsafe act, or cause a hazardous condition. Vehicles: All the provisions of the N.J. State Motor Vehicle Act apply. Vehicles are not allowed in unauthorized areas. Parking is allowed in designated areas only. ATVs, dirt bikes, and snowmobiles are prohibited on County Park lands. Enforcement: The rules and regulations of the County shall be enforced by duly authorized Rangers or representatives of the County under the provision of N.J.S.A. 40: 32-2 through 40:32-7.13. Any person who enters into a County Park for any purpose whatsoever has a duty and is presumed to be aware of the provisions of these rules and regulations governing the use of the facilities and properties administered by the Hunterdon County Division of Parks and Recreation. Penalties: Any person violating any of the provisions of these regulations shall, upon conviction before a court or other adjudicative body of jurisdiction, be liable for the replacement, repair or restoration of damaged property, if any, and shall pay a penalty of not more than one thousand dollars ($1,000.00) or other amount in the discretion of the court or other adjudicative body or may be sentenced to imprisonment in the County jail for the term not exceeding ninety (90) days, or both, provided that this section shall not supersede any applicable penalty provision for specific offenses, which may be set forth in the New Jersey Code of Criminal Justice, N.J.S.A. 2C:1-1, et seq., or in any other applicable state or federal law. NOTE: County Park Rangers of the Hunterdon County Division of Parks and Recreation have the authority to issue summons, and make arrests for violations of rules and regulations governing the use of facilities and properties administered by the Hunterdon County Division of Parks & Recreation. This is only a summary of the rules and regulations. Rules applying to special conditions, activities, or situations may be supplemental to these rules and regulations. When special rules apply, they will be posted at affected areas.
