ESF 6 – Mass CareCurrent Issues• Shelters - 14 Shelters with 1,577 inhabitants in 9 counties • Meals served 11/1 - 180,012 • Meals served event-to-date - 2,430,012 • ARC operating 88 fixed feeding sites and 141 mobile units.• TSA operating 4 fixed feeding sites and 14 mobile units and 1 Kitchen• Southern Baptists operating 14 kitchens, in 14 locations, providing meals to
ARC and TSA.• Partner Agencies - DCF, DEAff and AWI are preparing to staff Disaster
Recovery Centers throughout the impact area. Details regarding location and services will be publicized as soon as finalized. The first group should be operational 11/2/05.

Current Issues• Pallets of bottled water have been embargoed and samples
collected for analysis by the US Food and Drug Administration.• Investigators are gathering samples and information from
individuals complaining of related symptoms.• Contamination issues due to long term storage under hot
temperatures and light conditions that promote the bloom of algae or the growth of fungi.
• 6 HHS teams (56 providers) are providing primary care support on 5 mobile clinics serving areas of Broward Co. with a high concentration of elderly residents.
• HHS teams are conducting reconnaissance and triage missions in Broward; 2,851 housing units assessed since 30 OCT.
• Hospital needs assessment in Broward County completed--No additional Federal or state assets required.
• 9 mobile clinics operating in Broward County, including VA and county assets.

Current Issues• CO exposures remain elevated
• 3 exposures reported for Nov.1 • 5 exposures reported for Nov. 2• Cumulative totals of exposures are: 16 confirmed,
16 probable, 7 suspect• Syndromic surveillance data collected for 17 hospitals
shows no indication of disease outbreaks• Over the counter drug sales in affected areas suggest
no disease outbreak activity• Health and Human Services (HHS) continues to
provide support to Mobile Medical units in Broward Co

Future Operations• Continue to monitor situation and assist with
evacuations if needed.• Continue to assist with those displaced by hurricane

become available.

in the 3 counties.• Palm Beach County - 14 facilities answered and 86% had
plenty of fuel and 14% were low.• Broward Counties - 25 facilities answered and 100% had
plenty of fuel.• Miami -Dade Counties - 12 facilities answered and 100%
had plenty of fuel.
