8度目となった『LIVING & DESIGN 2016 ‒住まいと暮らしのリノベーション－』は、

“テクノロジーが創り出す次世代のリアルデザイン“をテーマに、大阪南港ATCホール

に於いて10月12日(水)－14日(金)に開催。3日間の会期中、来場者数は前回を

上回り、盛況に終えた。

今年は欧州、アジア、北米、米国等、海外6ヶ国のエントリーを含め143社（内50社

が新規）が出展し、感性の高いブースが立ち並ぶ会場では、空間を創り出す多彩な

アイデアや要素が一堂に会し、暮らしと住空間への豊かな発想が発信され、創造

の出会い、そして多くのビジネスが生まれた。

また、自然の循環に配慮した視点から、ものづくりを根差した、高水準、高品質な

家具の提案が集結し、昨年そのレベルの高さで評価を得、話題となった『木材

を使った家具のデザインコンペ2016』は、審査員に内藤 廣 氏、小泉 誠 氏、永山

祐子 氏、喜多 俊之の4名を迎え、今回より公益社団法人 日本インテリアデザイナー

協会主催として開催。（共催：大阪府地域産材活用フォーラム） LIVING & DESIGN

は協力として審査結果発表の場となり、全国から集まった139作品の応募作品の

中から選ばれたグランプリ、金賞、銀賞、銅賞、入選作品、計15点がパネル展示され、

入賞者の授賞式も行われた。

恒例のフォーラム、セミナーでは、建築家の坂 茂 氏、また今回カナダから来日した

木をテーマ、素材とした作品を多く生み出しているデザイナー/スカルプターの

ブレント・コマー氏をはじめ、住空間を立体的、多角的な視点から考えるべく、

建築、テキスタイル、照明、そして暮らし、といった各分野をリードする選りすぐりの

講師によるプログラムが３日間、展開された。

The 8th “LIVING & DESIGN 2016 - Housing and Living Renovation” was held at ATC (Asia and Pacific Trade Center) Hall located at Osaka Nanko (Osaka South Port) from October 12th (Wed.) to 14th (Fri.) under the theme, “Real Design of the New Generation with Emerging Technology”. Visitors at the 3-day event exceeded last year's event. The exhibition was well attended and ended in success.

and this year’s new participant, the U.S.A. Booths full of creativity and sensibility were spaciously arranged in an open area of the venue. The exhibits revealed a variety of content and stimulating ideas for rich dwelling spaces. This unique atmosphere at LIVING & DESIGN promoted encounters of creative minds and the fruition of business opportunities.

Last year’s highly esteemed, “Wood Furniture Design Competition 2016” was held again with Hiroshi Naito, Makoto Koizumi, Yuko Nagasawa and Toshiyuki Kita as guest jurors. (Co-sponsor: Osaka Domestic Timber Application Forum (Secretariat / Osaka Timber Association), Collaborator: LIVING & DESIGN 2016 Organizing Committee). 139 furniture makers and manufacturers entered the competition under the considerations of ecological cycles of nature and valuing craftsmanship. Among the entries, a Grand prix and other prize winning works were selected. A panel presentation for the prize winners was

set up along with a prize winners award ceremony held during the exhibition event period.

The annual established forums and seminars also closed on a high note. They consisted of 11 programs in total, and 17 leading architects and designers were invited, including architect Shigeru Ban, and Brent Comber, a designer from Canada who creates sculpted objects, functional pieces and designs environments across the globe. They lectured on various themes, looked at dwelling spaces in a broad sense, and presented the viewpoints and aspects of architects, textiles, lighting and life.

Design is continuously evolving and inspired for a step forward with a remarkable development of technology. People’s minds would, at the same time, go back to basics such as nature and tradition. What’d be the real design of the new generation? This year, LIVING & DESIGN foresees the future created by innovative technology and its application in order to pursue the design truly enriching people’s life.
