IntroductionAssumption about population parameter ishypothesis. Process of testing its validity is known ashypothesis testing. i.e. claim about something ishypothesis and process of testing its validity ishypothesis testing. 4. Null and alternative hypothesisNull hypothesis: Assumption about populationparameter is null hypothesis. Here we assume thatthere is not significant difference between assumedvalue and true value. It is denoted by Ho. The nullhypothesis is written in terms of population. For eg. Ifwe wish to test average marks of Student in statistics inMBA I term is 75 or not then null hypothesis isHo:=75 5. Alternative hypothesisOne inference may the null hypothesis is consideredfalse ,something else must be true.Whenever a null hypothesis is specified, an alternativehypothesis is also specified, and it must be true whennull hypothesis is false. In other words any hypothesisthat is true when null hypothesis is false is calledalternative hypothesis.Alternative hypothesis is denoted by H1 6. ContinueI f we wish that Class of Statistics was properlyhandled by Mr Nirajan Bam So average marks ofStudent is 75 .This is stated asHo: =75 Vs H1: 75 (Two tailed test)Again if we assume that Class of Statistics was properlyhandled by Mr Nirajan Bam So average marks ofStudent is more than 75 .This is stated as 7. ContinueHo:=75 Vs H1:>75 (Right tailed test)Again if Dean of PU assume thatClass of Statistics was not properly handled by MrNirajan Bam So average marks of Student is Less than55 .This is stated asHo:=55 Vs H1:
