THE PRELUDE A Mighty Fortress is Our God David Johnson

*THE CALL TO WORSHIP

Leader: The earth is the Lord’s and all that is in it, the world and those who live in it; for God has founded it on the seas and established it on the rivers.

People: Who shall ascend the hill of the Lord and who shall stand in God’s holy place?

Leader: Those who have clean hands and pure hearts, who do not lift up their souls to what is false, and do not swear deceitfully.

People: They will receive blessing from the Lord, and vindication from the God of their salvation.

Leader: Such is the company of those who seek God, who seek the face of the God of Jacob. Let us worship God: Creator, Christ and Holy Ghost.

-Psalm 24:1-6

THE CALL TO CONFESSION

THE ASSURANCE OF PARDON

Leader: When the fullness of time had come, God sent the Son, born of a woman, born under the law, in order to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as children. People: And because you are God’s children, God has sent the Spirit of the Son unto our hearts, crying “Abba, Father!” Leader: So you are no longer a slave, but a child, and if a child, then also an heir, through God. Believe the Promise of the Gospel: People: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven! -Galatians 4:4-7

THE PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Eternal God, you are from everlasting to everlasting. You, the creator of heaven and earth extend from the furthest reaches of the universe to the depths of Sheol. Yet in our finite lives, we forget from whom our blessings flow. We blur the lines between creator and creation and think that we are the authors of our own blessings. But you alone are eternal, you alone are the source of all life and all good. We are chastened and we ask forgiveness. Return us to your marvelous image, remind us that we are fearfully and wonderfully made, and call forth from us the commitment you would have us bring, through Jesus the Christ we pray, Amen.

*THE PEACE OF CHRIST

Leader: The peace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with you all! People: And also with you.

ALL SAINTS’ OBSERVANCE - NOVEMBER 6

All Saints’ Day is a day of observance in the liturgical calendar of the church in which we celebrate the lives of those whose race is run, who have kept the faith, and whose witness lives on among us in the communion of the saints. In our communion liturgy those who passed from this life this year will be remembered with thanksgiving to God for their lives and witnesses. If there are names you would like remembered in this prayer, contact [email protected].
