unction structure of the Xpert LAS

Line evaluation: The Xpert LAS helps the carrier determine the current status of the AN lines accurately. This ensures that the new service provisioning is quick and the access service rate is increased successfully.

Line diagnosis: With the technologies such as the intelligent diagnosis, single ended loop test (SELT), and optical line supervision (OLS), the Xpert LAS locates the faults quickly and accurately, and provides effective troubleshooting methods.

Line analysis: By analyzing the port rate fulfillment ratio, bit error ratio (BER), and abnormal offline ratio, the Xpert LAS provides the analysis reports regularly, monitors the network quality, and rectifies the hidden faults before the subscribers report the faults.

Line optimization: With the technologies such as the dynamic line management (DLM) and dynamic spectrum management (DSM), the Xpert LAS automatically optimizes the lines and fully develops the line potentials to realize the high-quality operation of the multi-play service.

Xpert LAS Line Assurance Solution---Makes the Broadband Access Faster, Stabler, and Greener

Information .Catches the current trends of the Access Network information

Along with the rapid development of the multi-play service and the increasingly severe competition in the industry, increasing the broadband rate is unavoidable. The method of using the existing access network (AN) to provide the faster, stabler, and greener broadband service determines whether the carrier has certain advantages over the competition. To rectify the line fault efficiently and to develop the line potentials completely are common complex problems that arise when the carrier increases the rate of the existing network and provisions the new services. Based on such a situation, Huawei is the first to launch the Xpert Line Assurance Solution (LAS) which provides the following effective measures to the complex problems and facilitates the carrier's implementation of the broadband strategy:

  • 02/2009 14

Major Characteristics Improving the Service Provisioning Efficiency

The Xpert LAS helps carrirs obtain the accurate infomration about the line status and the service provisioning rate. This effectively ensures that the new services are provided rapidly and the broadband access speed is increased successfully. In this manner, the service provisioning efficiency is greately improved.

Ensuring the Quality of Experience (QoE)The Xpert LAS helps carriers change the passive operation and maintenance (O&M) mode to the active O&M mode. By monitoring lines in real time, the Xpert LAS detects the faults and hidden risks of the lines in time to reduce the subscriber complaints. At the same time, the Xpert LAS can automatically customize the best parameter configuration for each line to ensure stability of the network, and can flexibly set service priorities to ensure QoE of the VIP subscribers.

Optimizing the Bandwidth of the LineBy automatically optimizing the power spectrum of the lines, the Xpert LAS minimizes the crosstalk between the lines so that the network bandwidth can be fully used.

Reducing Ineffective Dispatches The Xpert LAS provides the fast diagnosis and in-depth diagnosis functions. In the case of common faults, the hotline representative can use the intelligent diagnosis function to provide comprehensive diagnosis results and improvement suggestions within 30 seconds. This helps carriers respond to the faults reported by subscribers quickly and reduce unnecessary dispatches of service personnel. In the case of complicated faults, the O&M engineer can use the in-depth diagnosis function such as SELT to perform further monitoring and analysis. This helps engineers diagnose the fault accurately and reduce the rework rate.

Energy-Saving Green AccessThe prosperious development of the broadband service is accompanied with increasing power consumption pressure. By using the leading DSM L2 technology, the Xpert LAS helps carriers increase the broadband access rate and also build an energy-saving and emission-reducing green network. By working with the DSLAM, the Xpert LAS can change a xDSL subscriber port from the activated state to the dormant state in the case that the subscriber is offline. In the typical configuration, the Xpert LAS can save up to 40% of power consumption for an ADSL office.

FTTx-Oriented Optical Line SupervisionTo meet the requirements for diagnosing the optical lines in the FTTX age, the Xpert LAS supports the industry-leading built-in OLS, which helps the Xpert LAS check and monitor the status of the optical lines in real time and accurately locate the region where a fault occurs. At the same time, the Xpert LAS supports diagnosing and isolating the rogue ONT in five seconds to remove the interference source. This greatly reduces the maintenance complexity of the optical network.

Based on Software, Broadening the Sources of Income and Reducing ExpenditureThe Xpert LAS is based on the idea of improving through software. The carrier need not add any external test device on the network side or reconstruct the access nodes on a large scale, and can directly use the software-based measures to optimize the network and provide new services. Thus, the sources of income are broadened and the expenditure is reduced.IManager N2510 Line Assurance System

The iManager N2510 Line Assurance System (referred to as the N2510) is the major platform of the Xpert LAS. The N2510 provides northbound interfaces (NBIs) for interconnecting with the upper layer operation support system (OSS). It also provides southbound interfaces to implement the line management function for the DSLAMs/OLTs of Huawei or the third-party vendors.
